Tim Scott, sole black GOP senator, warns against "politicizing" mass shootings

Source: CBS News

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, the sole African-American Republican in the Senate, warned against "politicizing" two mass shootings that occurred in different parts of the country less than 24 hours apart and collectively killed more than two dozen people.

"The first thing I'd say is that we need to take a step back from politicizing every event," Scott said on "Face the Nation" Sunday. "This is an issue of human hate, something that resides in the heart and that is actually, unfortunately because of social technology and the social media, we're seeing it connect it to other folks who have hate in their heart as well."

<snip>

Asked specifically about President Trump's divisive and sometimes inflammatory rhetoric on immigration — which some Democrats have said fans the racist hatred behind violent acts like the one in El Paso — Scott praised Mr. Trump's response to the two shootings.

"What I'd say to everyone — from the president to my house — is that we should take responsibility for how we respond to the situations," he said. "I'm thankful that the president's response to this situation has been clear and decisive. I would hope that we would always have that clarity and decisive response in the face of hate and rage and racism."

He PRAISED tRump's response!!!!! What a joke.

He also said that instead of focusing on tRump's rhetoric we should think bigger and focus on taking positive action - so in other words he's admitting that tRump is part of the problem.

WTF?? When is the time, and why should it not be politicized?

How many more people have to die?

I'm completely confused when they want to deal with this? Before these tragedies, Marco Rubio was recently trying to make a villain out of Rep Omar's statements re: the radicalization of White Men- and what should be done

Meanwhile the FBI says this is the biggest terroristic threat to us. Rubio latched on to what Congresswoman Omar said and wanted to call her racist. WTF??

So what the fuck do they want to do? Thoughts and Prayers should be enough while the public just hopes not to get shot down as they go about their day? Fuck them!

Yeah, by all means, "don't politicize these events"....cause they have nothing to do with the NRA and Congress's feckless cowardice. Has nothing to do with the hate spewer in the White House, nor fox and fucker-carlson and his bigoted steady stream of hate and nationalism. Fuck this Uncle Tom piece of shit. I am finished with these enabling mf'ers. I've got the answer:

Repeal or revise the "almighty 2nd Amendment". NOBODY needs or should own an assault weapon. "But, but, problems with defining what an assault weapon is..." Right, we can't handle such complexities. Got an answer for that too....if it is capable to pumping out 10 rounds or more in a minute....BAN THE MOTHER FUCKER! Anyone holding them can turn them in for a modest exchange, or face criminal penalties for owning an illegal firearm.

These tragically sick bastards who somehow believe it is their salvation to keep the government at bay....are a danger to us all. Besides, if they think their stinking assault weapon and 5000 rounds of ammo is going to deter the US military...they are dumber than a pile of shit.

We repealed the alcohol prohibition...we can amend the 2nd Amendment. It is NOT "sacred". It is killing our kids and innocent fellow citizens. We are AFRAID....fucking AFRAID to go shopping, to go to the movies, to go to a concert, a shopping mall, or anyplace outside the home. Hell, some of us are afraid of being IN THE HOUSE with some unstable mother fucker who owns an arsenal.

It's take to wake the hell up. One day, fifty years from now, the world is going to wonder "what the fuck took us so long to figure out how to solve this problem"...simply amend or repeal the 2nd Amendment. Congress is bought and paid for, so we have to either get them on board, or replace them...by any means necessary. Our society is dying...thanks to these fucking military weapons on our streets today.
