Dayton Shooter's Girlfriend Says He Showed Her Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Video On First Date

DAYTON, Ohio (KDKA/AP) – An ex-girlfriend of the Ohio gunman who killed nine people says he showed her a video of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting on their first date.

Adelia Johnson says in an emailed statement to The Associated Press that Connor Betts often joked about having dark thoughts. She says he told her that he had bipolar disorder and that his talk didn’t scare her because she thought it was a symptom of his mental illness.

Johnson says she met Betts in a college psychology class this year and they dated for a couple of months until May.

She says she doesn’t know what would have caused him to open fire outside a strip of nightclubs in Dayton early Sunday.

She may of only known him....she came out publicly AFTER the onslot of this mass shooting is not a gun issue but a mental health issue....She appears to me to be a "timely plant" mouth piece to spread the media manlipulation of trumpsters....

She does not appear to be sincere in her expressing any underlying grief, loss but is only focusing on the trump talking points...

5. I have had several friends

who would consider a bipolar boyfriend as someone they could help or fix. The more brooding and dark, the more the women think they can help them.

As a woman and someone who grew up with a bipolar parent, there is no way in hell I'd want to jump in and help a man like that. It's more in my nature to run from these types of problems/drama. Having empathy toward them simply enables them and drags you down in to their darkness.

God bless the psychiatrists who deal with this on a daily basis. They're saints!

I went on a date with someone who when I asked if she was an alcoholic her response was, so what if I am?

I thought, ok maybe that's just dark humor, but then she told me she was bipolar and depressive on the second date.

There was no third date. I felt bad for her, but it was not my job to take that into my life.

for many years. I don't think it has anything with episode of bipolar. More likely he had homicidal thoughts for many years and finally acted on it.
