Trumps Says He's Reassured the NRA as Talk of New Gun Control Measures Continues

Source: KTLA TV

President Donald Trump said Friday he has reassured the National Rifle Association that its views about the right to bear arms won’t be ignored in Washington’s response to recent mass shootings.

Trump said he is talking with the NRA and others to make sure that their “very strong views can be fully represented and respected.”

“I am the biggest Second Amendment person there is, but we all must work together for the good and safety of our Country,” Trump tweeted. “Common sense things can be done that are good for everyone!”

The NRA, however, is uncompromising when it comes to gun control. Association Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre said in a rare public statement Thursday that some federal gun control proposals “would make millions of law-abiding Americans less safe and less able to defend themselves and their loved ones.”

I think the NRA has finally realized they either have to give a little or risk losing everything, after seeing themselves become the villains in this never-ending story of mass shootings. Universal background checks are even popular with most gun owners.

The choice is clear. The very life of our constitutional democracy is under attack. The goal of the Republican Party is the establishment of the so-called contrived Unitarian Executive which will transform the presidency into an absolute authoritarian dictatorship. Five of the Supreme Court judges are Federalist approved life time appointments along with dozens of other life time appointed judges who support this. The Attorney General is an avowed Unitarian Executive who written extensively of his support. The Republicans will bring government to a halt and create a constitutional crisis to achieve their goal if they are threatened by any progressive legislation. No one should be deceived, they are a deadly and serious threat. We are dealing with avowed fascists who have been advancing this for over two generations.

Just more lying from Orange Julius. In the end, he'll do exactly what Lapierre tells him to do. As usual. The NRA is used to being depicted as villains, and they sure as shit don't care about the opinions of most gun owners.

When you've been up against the pro-gun forces as many years as I have, pessimism becomes second nature.

We are feeling pretty damn unsafe now, bubba, with mass shootings every other day.

Just curious-- Is tRump a member of the NRA, and do we think he's personally ever shot a gun in his life?

If he were actually one-tenth -- hell, one one-hundredth -- of the tough guy he pretends to be, he'd just tell the NRA, "Sit down and shut up. Oh, and you're going to support us and give us money anyway, because the Democrats are worse."

14. The president should not be "reassuring" the NRA of anything. He should be telling them

if you stand in the government's way of getting meaning protection for the people, you will be crushed like the disgusting little bug you are. Then Wayne would have to reassure the president that good progress is going to be made.

Trump has it backwards. Between La Pierre and Putin, he has two too many bosses.
