Man Said He Wanted To Kill 100 In Mass Shooting, Florida Cops Say

Source: Orlando Sentinel

2 hrs. ago. A 25-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested Friday after he sent text messages to his ex-girlfriend saying he wanted to commit a mass shooting, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Tristan Scott Wix sent text messages that said “A school is a weak target..id be more likely to open fire on a large crowd of people from over 3 miles away... I’d wanna break a world record for longest confirmed kill ever.” Another said “But a good 100 kills would be nice. I already have a location (laughing cry face emoji) is that bad?”

His ex-girlfriend called deputies after receiving the text messages. Deputies found Wix in the Winn-Dixie parking lot in Daytona Beach Shores and arrested him. He told deputies he doesn’t own any firearms but is “fascinated” with mass shootings.

He’s facing charges of making threats to commit a mass shooting and was taken to the Volusia County Jail where he’s being held without bond. The threats come nearly two weeks after mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton that killed 31 people. -END.

1. He told them he doesn't own any firearms which is supposed to mean what exactly?

That makes absolutely no difference the way things are. He could arm up and get some body armor overnight. He may still end up being able to do that in the future. I'd like to hope they try and fix that.

Permanently keep people from being able to "arm up and get some body armor overnight" as mentioned in another post.

10. This is no laughing matter (and no one here is of course), but a strong signal needs to be sent...

so all of these mass shooters will stop ... for some reason, they think that doing this is solving some kind of issue or problem when in fact, it is them that have the problem, that society in some manner seems to condone this type of behavior when in fact it doesn't. Where are all of the parents of all of these young men? Have they forsaken their parenting duties or forsaken their roles in protecting society?

enough to report them. Also, hopefully more police are taking these reports more seriously and will act on these threats more quickly and thoroughly.

15. Notice the ages of these young men lately?

20-28 years age range. Grew up in households that had Fox on and in the car Rush Limbaugh.

Angry, growing up with all that hateful ideology now causes, them to be unhinged and act out. Part of me feels sad for those young men with so much rage inside their hearts.
