Washington Gov. Jay Inslee drops out of presidential race
Source: CNN
Democratic Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on Wednesday announced he is suspending his presidential campaign.
Inslee made the announcement during an interview on MSNBC.
The Washingtonian made combating climate change the fundamental issue motivating his campaign, routinely telling reporters that the climate crisis affects "every issue" facing the country. With that in mind, he released a series of plans that tied the issue to everything from foreign policy to the economy to labor laws.
But the governor failed to gain traction in the race to take on President Donald Trump. While the governor did recently reach the donor threshold to qualify for the third Democratic national debate, he had yet to reach the polling threshold and was therefore unlikely to qualify.

(51,585 posts)I hope he is going to continue pushing other candidates to keep up the fight and keep Climate Change in the top 3 issues during the election. Health Care, Immigration and Climate Change must stay front and center!
He has class, self respect and integrity and he knows how to make this issue important to everyone and not just younger voters. His multi source plan will push other candidates to do the same. Thank you for your strength and efforts, Gov. Inslee!

(7,515 posts)He seems like a decent guy who is running because of something he truly believes in, not just for an ego trip. His bringing of climate change front and center was badly needed. There are several more who should have dropped out before. him.

Whoever is elected--bring him in to head the EPA.
We need him. He's right. It is affecting every issue. It doesn't matter if we have health care, gun laws, or anything else if we're dead.

(22,062 posts)I like him, and his big issue.
Also hope he will be our next Sec. of Interior, or a whole new department: Secretary of Climate Salvation. Also wouldn't mind him running for Senate. Between him, and Hickenlooper in CO, we would be on the way to taking it back.

It's good to be reminded politics aren't only filed with greedy, cold people. Particularly in this Era of general distrust in government.
