Fed Appeals Court Rules Kim Davis Can Be Sued Over Gay Marriage License Refusals

A federal appeals court ruled on Friday that the Kentucky county clerk who gained notoriety for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2015 can be sued, Reuters reported.

The 3-0 decision by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati upheld a previous ruling by U.S. District Judge David Bunning in Kentucky that Kim Davis can be sued in her individual capacity for the denial of licenses to same-sex couples after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in 2015. The decision will toss the lawsuits from two couples pursuing a lawsuit against Davis back into his court.

Hard to prove economic damages. Remember, the jury in that state probably supports Da Lawd.

Just because we have some backwoods rednecks, we also have a growing population of progressives!

Take a look. Yes, the assembly has gerrymandered themselves into a Republican majority, up until the last election, the top three state wide posts; Gov., Lt. Gov, and SecState had been Dems for quite awhile and indications are that they will be again after next election. And Moscow Mitch isn't doing well since the down state coal miners are realizing he's been screwing them over for years. They remember when a group of coal miners with Black Lung Disease chartered a bus for a 10-hour ride to DC to talk with him about not taking away their health benefits and Mitch managed to spare exactly 1 minute to talk to them before leaving.

And bear in mind that Kim Davis' backcountry county is an outlier and if the lawyers from the plaintiffs have any brains they will try for a change of venue.

Just about all the people in Kentucky that I know hate what Moscow Mitch and the RepubliCONS have done to their state. They are the majority but they have been Gerrymandered into silence.

I'm in East TN. We use to be majority Democratic. But now my precinct is a weird snake along the North Carolina border.

F*ck the Supremes for supporting Gerrymandering, may they burn in their imaginary hell for eternity.

Haters have to learn to keep their views to themselves when at work. She should've just shut her mouth. No one cares about her personal views but she imposed them on everyone anyways - so now she is gonna pay. She HAS to be made an example of to like-minded people; shut up or pay up.

That's about all she owns, I suspect.

Where are all the fundy groups that were lining up to support her when she was breaking the law? Seems like they should be liable too.
