Trump Had Deal With Scotland Airport That Sent Flight Crews to His Resort

Source: New York Times

“I know nothing about an Air Force plane landing at an airport (which I do not own and have nothing to do with) near Turnberry Resort (which I do own) in Scotland, and filling up with fuel, with the crew staying overnight at Turnberry (they have good taste!),” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter. “NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.”

But documents obtained from Scottish government agencies show that the Trump Organization, and Mr. Trump himself, played a direct role in setting up an arrangement between the Turnberry resort and officials at Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

This is an insane level of corruption. Absolute grounds for impeachment. What's it going to take? Adam Schiff even said today we can only impeach when it's proven that they had no other option because Trump breaks the law so much.

If Trump isn't impeached, no one in American history ever will be again.

He has broken so many laws with impunity that I cannot believe there is any question about the need to impeach AND convict in the Senate. I do believe that the country’s founders would categorize the deliberate stealing of taxpayer money for enrichment of a personal business as a high crime and misdemeanor.

Be interesting to see just how often AF crews have put up at Turnberry .. before and after Trump presidency. Hesitant to go chasing after this until we know a little more ..

This is your regular business to business arrangement ... Trump Association pays kickback to airport for any of it's customers that they send to Turnberry.

Most likely the owners at the airfield just treated the military people like they would any civilian customer and directed them to Turnberry, expecting their 'cut'.

I rather doubt they were doing so when Obama was POTUS but I wouldn't rule it out, if US planes were ever refueling there anyway.

Contract with airport to send aircrew to hotel? Sounds OK to me in the business world.

Trump should have been made to properly divest his businesses for the duration of his presidency.

I'd imagine many hotels have deals with airports to recommend/send crews and bumped passengers to their hotels. Likely there is some sort of discount offered or commission paid. It seems like a standard business practice.

It is the fact that our full-time employee (the President) is still allowed to run a personal business on the side that is problematic. It allows for both the appearance of impropriety and real conflicts of interest, both things I was warned against when taking mandatory US government employee ethics training.

When we finally get control of the White House and Congress again it would behoove us to pass laws that demand specific behaviors form the President and apply all relevant ethics laws to that office holder.

It would be interesting to see if any of the current candidates would be willing to commit to putting permanent limits on the power of the presidency.

Sounds like the exact same defense.

Which means if one is true, then the other is more than likely true and republicans elected a Russian asset for their president.

and Gums, pulling up to Fort Knox in the family armored car and having government employees load gold bars in the back. They fill the thing to overflowing and the Trumps drive away and nothing ever happens. That's how it seems to be going.
