Arrested and convicted of crimes, but still on the force
Source: Fresno Bee
More than 80 law enforcement officers working today in California are convicted criminals, with rap sheets that include everything from animal cruelty to manslaughter.
They drove drunk, cheated on timecards, brutalized family members, even killed others with their recklessness on the road. But thanks to some of the weakest laws in the country for punishing police misconduct, the Golden State does nothing to stop these officers from enforcing the law.

(86,536 posts)could be a rerun but I heard it today for the first time. It's a mess and I think we need a major national reform of policing in this country.

(86,536 posts)though I am aware that these things happen, it is good that someone is making it more public. I like that program and listen to it when I'm home when it airs in my area.
Sometimes a tiny role ends being more than anticipated. Good for you in playing a role in the investigation.

Long gone are the days when most cops would at least talk before tasing or shooting. Not a good trajectory for us.

(5,719 posts)Some of the things he shows gets your blood boiling. A case in point was yesterday when he showed the video of the guy who got arrested on a BART (Bay Area) platform for eating a sandwich. Cops couldn't get their story straight. The original officer said he was there looking for a drunk woman and came on this man eating (which is against the law, apparently). The responding officer who actually took him into custody said he was being detained because he matched the description of a suspect they had been called in on. So a drunk woman suddenly became a black man.
