COLUMBUS, Ohio State Rep. Stephanie Howse was on a plane Tuesday headed to El Salvador to learn about the effects of the worlds most extreme abortion law.
Howse, a Cleveland Democrat who has opposed recent restrictions in Ohio to abortion rights, is part of a delegation of five Democratic female lawmakers from states that have recently passed strict abortion bans. The other lawmakers are from Alabama, Florida, Arizona and Georgia.
The State Innovation Exchange is paying for the trip. Its an organization that wants to advance progressive policies across the country.

This includes the high-profile case of Evelyn Hernandez, who served 33 months of a 30-year sentence after giving birth to a baby that forensic tests had determined died of a medical condition.
