Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she has warned President Trump that he's in her "wheelhouse" when he attempts to "intimidate" a government whistleblower who helped spark the House impeachment inquiry.
"I will make sure he does not intimidate the whistleblower," Pelosi said in an interview airing on CBS's "Face The Nation" on Sunday morning. "I told the president you're in my wheelhouse when you come after the whistleblower."
A whistleblower complaint accusing Trump of seeking to get Ukraine to open investigations into 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden led Pelosi to announce a formal impeachment inquiry in late September. In the subsequent weeks, Trump has repeatedly questioned the whistleblower's credibility and pushed for the disclosure of their name.
Earlier this month, he called on the media to disseminate the whistleblower's identity. The figure's lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the White House just days later asking Trump to stop attacking their client.

(22,114 posts)reasons for WB laws, I imagine stemming from the Nixon years (IMHO, I have forgotten a lot about that era and all of the shenanigans going on w/ Nixon's administration). Although not a republican by far, I have far more respect for Nixon (other than Watergate) than rump, who's a worthless toady.

Irony if that's the case and Trump screwed because there's no way in hell a pardon would protect him from a civil case.

(8,814 posts)Is anyone else getting sooooo tired of these worn-out trite words like "my wheelhouse" or "it's not my first rodeo" and others.
I suspect most who use wheelhouse don't even know what it refers to......

(12,809 posts)Just thought that should be clarified.
Trump also seemed VERY interested that Ukraine must PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE such investigations so that it would look all independent on the part of Ukraine and Trump could immediately begin railing against Joe on Twitter and at his ego-stroke rallies.

(23,339 posts)The only "plus" for Trump would be to fire the whistleblower, possibly depriving him of a pension/benefits, in order to intimidate any other future whistleblower.
