Democrats invite Trump to testify in impeachment inquiry

Source: Associated Press

By JILL COLVIN

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi invited President Donald Trump to testify in front of investigators in the House impeachment inquiry ahead of a week that will see several key witnesses appear publicly.

Pushing back against accusations from the president that the process has been stacked against him, Pelosi said Trump is welcome to appear or answer questions in writing, if he chooses.

“If he has information that is exculpatory, that means ex, taking away, culpable, blame, then we look forward to seeing it,” she said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” Trump “could come right before the committee and talk, speak all the truth that he wants if he wants,” she said.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer echoed that suggestion.

“If Donald Trump doesn’t agree with what he’s hearing, doesn’t like what he’s hearing, he shouldn’t tweet. He should come to the committee and testify under oath. And he should allow all those around him to come to the committee and testify under oath,” Schumer told reporters. He said the White House’s insistence on blocking witnesses from cooperating begs the question: “What is he hiding?”

Even the GOPee questioning makes him look bad. If he has something favorable to his case, the onus is on him to put it before the committee. Otherwise, well--"pays your money, takes your chances...." The chances he's getting now don't look kindly for him. But I have no doubt Chairman Schiff would give him a fair hearing, in spite of all his bullsh*t. All he has to do is pick up his phone and call. If he has something that will clear him, surely he'd be screaming it from every rooftop. But all I'm hearing is meaningless tweets--meaningless, that is, except for witness intimidations.

Where is this Alan Weiselberg? The long term drumpf accountant. Why isn't he in jail? Is he playing a double game? What did he give up? He gave testimony behind closed door and had to cover his arse for doing the books for 45 years...he could of given up not only drumpf but Ivanka and Jared. He is still working for drumpf and known to be a drumpf loyalist...and he was given limited immunity from the SDNY...Will congress call him to testify and if so will he plead the fifth? Is that why his name is not mentioned?

Any lawyers out there who can answer?

With Trump, they have a genuine fear.

No random yammering with no time limit, avoiding the question, personal attacks, etc.. Committee rules must be enforced. The Chairman has the gavel. As long as the interview is in session, Schiff outranks 45. I don't think 45 will abide by that, even if he promises to do so.
