Top Diplomat Testified Pompeo Called Hannity About Yovanovitch Smears
Source: Daily Beast
David Hale, the under secretary of state for political affairs, said in his closed-door impeachment testimony that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called Fox News host Sean Hannity last spring to ask about the smear campaign launched against former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, according to a transcript that was made public Monday night.
Discussing efforts by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani and pro-Trump media to besmirch the reputation of Yovanovitch ahead of her ouster as ambassador, Hale noted that Pompeo spoke to Giuliani twice in late March regarding the allegations.
... snip ...
Hales testimony tracks with that of both Yovanovitch and senior State Department official George Kent, who both said it was their understanding that Pompeo or someone from State called the Fox host to see what is going on with coverage of the allegations.
Hannity, meanwhile, has repeatedly denied that Pompeo contacted him at the time, calling the testimony fake news and insisting that he barely covered Yovanovitch during the spring, claiming that he didnt know anything about this woman. He has also threatened to file a lawsuit if officials didnt stop spreading bogus rumors and smears about him.

(43,137 posts)but it is also possible Pompeo tried to keep a lid on him a bit because State is his responsibility and his personnel are not considered political. 'Tone it down' in other words, Hannity is just so out of line every night. Will be interesting to watch.

(9,090 posts)buddy and neighbor in palm beach and the guy trump made sure was there with him on the links for a photo op the day after the mueler report came out to intimidate GOP senators who might have second thoughts about their asskissing
limbo is top dog in the propaganda operation but hannity is also on fox aside from his radio station and he's less cautious than linmbaugh, and stupider
thing about limbo is he's been doing sanitized transcripts for years so everyone can stay on the same page without listening - and those transcripts are out there for searching, along with some youtubes for particular dates and those can be transcribed quick and cheap at sites like sonix.ai

(1,828 posts)What exactly did he want to know? Was the smear working? Was Hannity going to continue the smear campaign? etc. etc.

Why should Pompeo not face impeachment?
Why should Perry not face impeachment for greasing the wheels for his buddies on the gas deal?
The corrupt Senate may not impeach them but hanging them up for all to see what they are is not a bad thing to do to people like this.
