Florida governor: 2 coronavirus cases 'presumptive positive' in the Tampa Bay area

On Sunday night, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said it wouldnt be a matter of if but rather when the Sunshine State began seeing COVID-19 cases.
Shortly thereafter, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced two cases of the novel virus had been presumptive positive in the Tampa Bay area.
A March 1 letter appearing to be from Doctors Hospital said its patient was admitted in late February and is still there. When medical staff realized the patient might have coronavirus, the hospital activated COVID-19 protocols and identified everyone who had come in contact with the individual.

Our thoughts go out to those working in the tourism and travel industries, but most of all to those suffering from this disease.

(19,193 posts)with COVID-19. With a large elderly population and an economy based on tourism, it could grow to be a crisis. The Florida economy will surely take a hit during the remainder of winter and spring as well. I wish everyone the best, and please take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
