Coronavirus toll reaches 9 deaths, 27 confirmed cases in Wash. state

Source: KOMO

SEATTLE - The novel coronavirus tightened its grip on Washington state Tuesday, with nine deaths reported and at least 27 total cases confirmed statewide.

Eight deaths have been reported in King County, and one fatality has been reported in Snohomish County, health officials said.

One of the deaths confirmed Tuesday happened six days ago at Harborview Medical Center, but the coronavirus diagnosis wasn't made until well after the person's death, said Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg.

Gregg said the patient, who had underlying medical conditions, was transferred to Harborview from the Life Care Center of Kirkland of Feb. 24, then died on Feb. 26. But the cause of death was not discovered until testing was completed days later. "In coordination with Public Health Seattle & King County, we have determined that some staff may have been exposed while working in an intensive care unit where the patient had been treated. We don’t believe that other patients were potentially exposed," Gregg said in a prepared statement.

It's clear that the lack of test kits is intentional. Hide the numbers is trumps favorite game.

There are hundreds of people who are positive but not yet tested or confirmed.

Another possible factor...is that it sounds as if one of the early victims was in a nursing home so it could be clustered within a high-risk community.

I think for every 6 deaths a guess of one thousand infections is appropriate. This isn't a death rate per se but rather how the numbers go when reported with extensive tracking of contacts, and widespread diagnostic testing. The Trump administration has done neither, and I believe the bureaucratic inertia and lack of transparency is deliberate.

The Senate hearing today was basically a baffle em with bs session, with evasive answers and excuses galore for why they were letting this situation proceed so haphazardly.

The FDA commissioner Dr. Hahn, i believe said maybe they could deliver sufficient numbers of test kits in several days. By that time, the number of cases could triple or more. Even then made excuses about how there could be distribution delays outside of his agencies control.

was reported to be inside a retirement facility and we know that so far most of the deaths have been hitting the already sick and elderly in China where as most of the younger and healthier people seem to be recovering.

Highly compromised to begin with. Worst case scenario.

General population is much healthier.

I hope they didn't vote for the guy who is letting them die.

When my mom was in a nursing home, she always voted Democratic.

We need to be keen in choosing which toilets we buy for our home. Safety and cleanliness is a must if you want, try reading this Toto Ultramax II Toilets https://bestflushingtoilets.org/toto-toilet/toto-ultramax-ii-review/ and know how great this product is.
