(4,980 posts)Ive seen the terror and devastation of tornadoes first hand. Am saddened for the loss of life, and what the survivors will go through in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Rebuilding and healing can happen - even when it doesnt feel possible at first.
Please relay any information about a good local relief organization, and Ill contribute what I can beyond what I have given to the Red Cross.
Would like to hear from TN DUers as well.

(14,490 posts)after graduating from Tech in 1970 (BS-EE), lived in Nashville for a while then moved to KY for work. I've always loved Nashville for its laid-back atmosphere and music scene. Some of my fondest memories of childhood was Christmas shopping at Harveys and getting Crystal burgers once a year at that time.

(17,911 posts)I graduated from Tech in 1988. Cooke-vegas has grown a lot since then. Nashville has too. Gentrification in places I never expected. Still have some family there, but I haven't lived in the metro area since the late 90's.

(22,062 posts)We're about 90 miles north of Nashville in Kentucky. We had a horrendous thunderstorm go through from about 8:30 to 10:30 (lightening hit the phone lines). Couple tornadoes in the counties just south of us.

(17,086 posts)I used to walk a few blocks to the many clubs and bars there. They were very lucky the tornado didn't strike on a weekend night or there would have been far more casualties.
