Los Angeles County declares coronavirus emergency with 6 new cases

Source: Loa Angeles Times

Los Angeles County said Wednesday it is declaring a health emergency as the number of coronavirus cases increased to seven, with six new cases. None of the new cases are connected to community spreading, officials said. All individuals were exposed to COVID-19 through close contacts.

None of the cases were related to the first case that was reported in January.

The cases were confirmed Tuesday night. All are linked to a travel history from a location with a known outbreak, exposure to a known traveler from an area with an outbreak or the person is a close contact with a confirmed case

The county’s move comes as the government has increased testing, which officials have warned will show a significant number of new cases.

I was trying to remain in denial that it wouldn't reach southern CA, but I knew not to hold my breath on that. Our Costco's in North County, San Diego are all sold out of TP, paper towels, antibacterial products, etc...

What concerns me is that if the gov't doesn't start testing soon and in a big way, every area will show signs of infection. We should be testing like they are in South Korea.

Who knows the level of testing that is being completed now, since CDC stopped reporting that info this week. It's such a cluster F right now, with as little info provided as possible from our government.

I think we'll be okay in SD, but I am concerned for my 97 year old grandma that lives in LA along with all the other elderly, young and persons with other medical issues that have lowered immune systems.
