Romney: Biden, Burisma probe 'appears political'

Source: The Hill

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said on Thursday that a GOP investigation into Hunter Biden and Ukrainian gas company Burisma "appears political," and that people are “tired” of political investigations.

“There's no question but that the appearance of looking into Burisma and Hunter Biden appears political, and I think people are tired of these kind of political investigations,” Romney told reporters.

Romney’s skepticism could signal a significant roadblock for Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson's (R-Wis.) efforts to subpoena a former consultant for a U.S. firm with ties to Burisma.

Romney, a member of the committee, has not yet said if he will support the subpoena.

Republicans hold an 8-6 majority on the committee. That means a "no" vote from Romney will result in a 7-7 tie, which would result in the subpoena failing.

and hope others will join him. Nice change from people like Collins, Sasse, and Flake, who say/said they didn't agree and then backed down at the last minute.

Yes, it's political. Everyone in the country knows it. So it backfires on them either way, and they don't understand how their credibility is just about worthless.

Abuse of power to hurt a political opponent, and it should again be impeachable offenses for doing this , and Nancy needs to suggest they will back again articles of impeachment from them doing this , or it'll just get worse. Romney knows trump may not make it to the election as a lot more gets exposed on trump.

You could just ignore congressional subpoenas if you wanted to.

the sad part is that it will go no where, they will find nothing and two more things:

they'll waste a boat-load of tax-payer dollars
and it will stay in the news long enough to affect the election

14. Romney's Top Aide Was At Bursima

Don't be fooled for a minute that Romney is doing the right thing for the right reason.

He's a complete snake who just happens to be useful for attacking Drumpf.

The reason Romney wants to avoid subpoenas regarding Bursima is Joseph Cofer Black -- the head of Romney’s Foreign Policy and National Security Advisory Team --- was also on the board of Bursima.

And Black is a real POS: vice-chairman of BLACKWATER and at various CIA positions under both Bushes.

In other words, Romney's guy Black is a dirty tricks guy, extraordinaire, and undoubtedly dirty as hell. He's basically a real-life comic book villain.

Never forget, Romney is nothing but an opportunist. NEVER trust him or turn your back on him.

Bursima was (and is) a real hot bed of the scummiest of the scum.

Joe needs to own it, say his kid is trouble, and move on.

I don't know your age, but it reminds me a lot of Billy Carter -- no, not the beer stuff -- but when he registered as an agent of Libya and took something like $350,000 in a pretty clear attempt at influence peddling. Like a guy who used to pump gas had any expertise in an oil company --

President Carter confronted it head on; said it looked crooked, but he was not his brother and no special favors were given.

Joe needs to do the same with Hunter.
