Pritzker declares state of emergency for COVID-19
Source: State Journal Register
Gov. JB Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation Monday after four more people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the states total cases to 11.
A disaster proclamation is an operational procedure that opens up a substantial set of federal and state resources and tools, Pritzker said. It allows our state disaster relief fund to cover the costs related to our preparations and our response.
Illinois can request more medical experts and on-site support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Pritzker also said the proclamation qualifies Illinois for federal reimbursement if the federal government chooses to take action to provide emergency relief for states.

(123 posts)So a friend posted something, you know the standard "it's the media's fault". I responded that based on the # of FB posts, social media is at least partially to blame. The trumpettes have fallen in step with their leader. These people are in full denial. As a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, we are screwed. I fear it will be worse in America for a number of reasons, not the least of which is Diaper Don downplaying the whole thing.

(23,940 posts)...the next level of protocols to follow for suspected cases. It promises to be a real mess.
If we see someone who we think might have the virus, we have to close down the exam room in which they have been examined for 2 hours after they depart. We have 6 exam rooms. If even 2 of them are out of commission for 2 hours, that is going to totally screw up the schedule, because each closed exam room will be 3 people who cannot be seen for that 2 hour period of time.
The symptoms that are supposed to alert us are cough, fever, and difficulty breathing. Right now, with flu season not over, that is probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the patients we are seeing. This last criterion of difficulty breathing will take some really detailed questioning, because when parents says their child cant breathe, they are often talking about nasal congestion, not true lung problems.
I have no desire to stay there 14 hours a day. Im already there for 10.
