Michigan State University switching to virtual instruction amid coronavirus fears

Source: WXYZ Detroit

(WXYZ) — Michigan State University is moving to online-only classes effective at noon on March 11.

The university is suspending face-to-face instruction in classroom settings and is moving to virtual instruction. The suspension of in-person classes will last until April 20.

The move comes after two cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Oakland and Wayne County. Governor Whitmer declared a state of emergency.

MSU students doing purely remote work can return to their residences, which the university encourages. Officials say that if this is not possible, the university will continue to support students in residence halls and dining facilities.
