Trump boasts to governors that his pandemic response system will be the talk of the world: leaked recording
Published 19 mins on March 16, 2020
President Donald Trump spoke with several governors from around the country on Monday and took the opportunity to once again brag about his widely panned response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The New York Times, which obtained a recording of the call, reports that Trump once again falsely claimed that Americas pandemic response system was broken under former President Barack Obama, when in reality Trump shuttered the National Security Councils pandemic response team and never replaced it with anything comparable.
We broke down a system that was broken, very badly broken, Trump said to the governors, and then added that his team is creating a new one that I think is going to be the talk of the world.
The United States has fallen far behind other nations in terms of testing capabilities, and many sick Americans still say theyre being denied access to tests even though Trump claimed more than a week ago that there were enough tests available for anyone who wanted one............................

(31,683 posts)Governor of NJ - he really looked like he wanted to. His team screen shot the meeting taking place and then the expression on his face.
I think the Irish guy from Boston and Italian guy from NY - need to get together and whoop the son of a Nazi's ass.

(46,804 posts)all over everything, but now the name "Trump" will always be synonymous with vulgar, hateful, dishonest, and corrupt. It will be used as a noun, a verb, an adjective, and an adverb, never in a positive context. "Trump you you mother-Trumping Trumpwad!"

(12,539 posts)Listening to him at a presser right now (12:40 pm PDT) and it's clear he is way over his head. After his usual, "We're doing great, everything is great, nobody could have foreseen this, it's Obama's fault" ) spiel, he said to follow the recommended protocols -- wash hands, keep separate from others. Meanwhile a dozen people are standing shoulder to shoulder behind him on the dais. Only one of those people -- the doctor who is actually providing factual information -- seems to be necessary. Everyone else is just set dressing. The irony of Trump is saying -- "Keep your distance" -- and what's actually being shown is overwhelming. As Rachael says, "Watch what they do, not what they say."
BTW, the doctor contradicted everything Fat Donnie said about preparing a response to the virus. "If it feels like you have done too much, that's probably about right." Trump just stood there looking off in space ("I wonder if I'll miss my tee time?" ), and lifting himself up and down on his toes. Boing-boing-boing. It's like having Tigger as president. Actually, Tigger could do a better job than this melon-head.
The governors have pleaded for help getting more ventilators. Trump's response: "Do it yourselves." If they could do that, do you think they'd ask for his help? Trump's excuse? "It takes so long for the federal government to get anything done." You just declared a state of emergency, asshole! Use it! Get the f*cking ventilators!
One statement that jumped out was when he said, "Hopefully this will end one day." I can imagine Churchill or FDR saying that at the beginning of WWII. "Hopefully this war will end one day. Maybe when it gets hotter it will miraculously end."
If I hear (or read) one more person use the word "unforeseen" I'm going to scream. The letter my wife just got from the school district about a two week closing started out with that word. Augh!

Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?
No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. Its one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. Its going to be just fine.
Jan. 24
It will all work out well.
Jan. 30
We have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment five. And those people are all recuperating successfully.
Feb. 2
How concerned are you?
Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China.
Feb. 10
Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away.
Feb. 19
I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.
Feb. 23
"Have you been updated on the coronavirus, sir?"
"Yeah, were very much involved. We have it very much under control. We had 12, at one point. And now theyve gotten very much better. Many of them are fully recovered."
Feb. 26
Were going down, not up. Were going very substantially down, not up.
Feb. 27
Its going to disappear. One day its like a miracle it will disappear.
Mar. 2
"I really think were in extremely good shape. Were prepared for anything. And here were talking about a much smaller range. And, again, were prepared for anything."
Mar. 4
"Its very mild."
Mar. 7
Im not concerned at all.
Mar. 10
It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.

(46 posts)I think you're right but he's slippery. He's declared a national emergency giving him increased powers and states are delaying primaries. He has to stay in office or he's going to be in court, if not jail, for the rest of his life. Will he declare martial law and delay elections until "the current crisis is passed"? Spoiler alert, if he does that the crisis will last the rest of his life...

(12,712 posts)The World will certainly take note and say: We learned from that terrible American President to do exactly the opposite of what America has done so far and it has made all the difference with more lives saved. A bad example can be helpful.
"We broke down a system that was broken..." Oh, that was a remarkable statement from a self-avowed genius. He broke the system and now there is nothing much left of it. I guess you have to have the decoder ring to translate it.

Everyone else is wrong, but Trump is right.
The CIA was wrong, but Trump was right.
The FBI was wrong, but Trump was right.
The US Allies were wrong, but Trump was right.
The CDC was wrong, but Trump was right.
See the pattern?
How in the fuck can they keep this logic up and still stand to look at themselves in the mirror every morning?
