Nigeria reported two cases of chloroquine poisoning after US President Donald Trump praised its sister drug as a treatment for the novel coronavirus.

Health officials are warning Nigerians against self-medicating after demand for the antimalarial medicine surged in Lagos, a city home to 20 million people.

Two people were admitted to hospital in Lagos for chloroquine overdoses, Oreoluwa Finnih, senior health assistant to the city’s governor, said in an interview.

“Please don’t panic,” she said by text message.

What was the recommended dosage for malaria? Is that what was taken? Or were ten or a hundred doses taken?

Nigeria reported two cases of chloroquine poisoning after U.S. President Donald Trump praised the anti-malaria drug as a treatment for the novel coronavirus.

Health officials are warning Nigerians against self-medicating after demand for the drug surged in Lagos, a city that’s home to 20 million people. Two people were hospitalized in Lagos for chloroquine overdoses, Oreoluwa Finnih, senior health assistant to the governor of Lagos, said in an interview.

“Please don’t panic,” she said via text message. “Chloroquine is still in a testing phase in combination with other medication and not yet verified as a preventive treatment or curative option.”

The president doubled down on Saturday, telling his Twitter followers that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin “taken together” could be “one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.” He urged they “be put in use IMMEDIATELY.”

and as such cannot act like one, prescribe, advise,etc. the blood is on HIS hands and he should be personally sued by every person who takes his advice based on conspiracy thinking and ignorance. 21. I took Cloroquine for autoimmune disease.

The treatment was almost as bad as the disease. Nausea, headache, and my eyes burned constantly. Initially I had bloodwork weekly as we adjusted the dosage, tapering down to once a month. I can’t imagine someone taking it without a doctors supervision.
