If you get there and the Waffle House is closed? That's really bad...[2]
Craig Fugate, Former Head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency
The measure is based on the reputation of Waffle House for having good disaster preparedness and staying open during extreme weather, or reopening quickly afterwards...

(3,145 posts)WH is not bad at all. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that its frequented by law enforcement for coffee/meal breaks, especially overnight.
The place for belligerent drunks, whack-a-doodle tweekers and other misfits is Dennys.

Other than that, they're perfectly fine. And quite delicious, I'll add.

(18,470 posts)I went to visit them one time and the hotel was right next door to a Waffle House so I had to give them a try. The food was pretty good.

I dare say your snooty level is safer with locations closed.
Personally, I miss my Campfire Hashbrowns. Hashbrowns with EVERYTHING including eggs on top. BUT -- my weight WILL go down, so for that reason -- many patrons ARE safer.

(9,878 posts)but I travel there and I have always found a Waffle House when I needed one, the food is actual food cooked in front of you, and I've never had a problem with the other patrons. I wish they had pancakes, but what are you going to do. I find them one of the last vestiges of a more freewheeling time.

Tried making it at home but it just isn't the same.

(13,818 posts)The people behind the counter were always a great addition to the food. The things they would say like no one was listening to them. It was like a soap opera!! I NEVER had a problem at WH. The people were great, good to average service with passible if not mediocre food.
And yes that stuff will clog your arteries in a second..

(11,882 posts)...a CEO for Wafflehouse shuts everything down when he knows a pandemic is coming, while trump is trying to float and justify opening ever thing up and trying to blame and incite fear if the American people aren't with him now. Then he uses threats when he doesn't get his way and gets mad. Then he intentionally hurts people. Sounds more like putins in charge and we're in Russia.

(36,214 posts)Hollywood lunch was totally spot on. West LA, late at night, was just so-so, but memorable because Charlie Sheen pulled up in his bulletproof Maybach. We still chuckle because Charlie came over to our table to talk with my son about their sweaters, and my son started laughing, explaining his 'Penguin' sweater was a thrift store score.
