More than 100 residents, staff in Tennessee nursing home test positive for coronavirus

Source: The Hill

At least 74 residents of Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing and 33 staff have tested positive for the virus, according to an announcement from Gov. Bill Lee’s (R) office. Of those residents, 59 tested positive on Sunday and headed to Sumner Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Two nursing home residents have died from COVID-19, according to a Facebook statement from the Sumner Regional Medical Center. A total of 34 noncritical patients were relocated to various health care facilities in the area Sunday.

"This situation has escalated quickly and we urge nursing homes and assisted care facilities to reach out to us as soon as cases are identified within their populations," Unified Command Director Stuart McWhorter said.

We took on 25 pts Friday, one of whom died from the virus, 17 Saturday, and yes, basically 65 pts yesterday. It's been a nightmare, but we were prepared. Not sure how long we'll hold but we are. The governor needs to shut everything down, he still hasn't, and, frankly, they're going to have to have "Covid positive nursing homes" in order to offload some of these patients who aren't critically ill but require long term nursing care.

Trust me, this story will very well be repeated across the US very very soon.

If the rest of the country could get tested, and not just the wealthy, you'd faint finding out how many of us would test positive.

they probably won't get tested. And those most prone to the illness are the first to show symptoms...retirement homes for example. All the while, the virus is moving silently through the population. There's an asymptomatic window with this bug, so unless we did massive testing early on....and there was no infrastructure to do that....we're always going to be 10 steps behind. We lost the ability to surround and isolate outbreaks due to our jackass n chief, Donnie and the utter and complete failure by CDC. Watch for new clusters to pop up all across the country, and the virus burn the space in between those clusters. The only way to break that chain of infection is to distance and stay home. Thanks to Donnie, that's the only option at this point.

Tennessee’s governor has refused to shut down most of the state, which means their infection rate will skyrocket—and then spread to the states around them. Trump needs to order these red-state fools to close up shop for at least the month of April.

This will be common all over soon enough?

My dad has been in lock-down in his in FL for a month now, amid all the BS going on in that petri dish + FL Gov. is showing to be a bit of a liability in this one, to put it mildly?

I remain FURIOUS.

Good Luck!
