Long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline is a go, Canadian developer says

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Paul Hammel

LINCOLN — The long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline is a go, its Canadian developer, TC Energy, announced Tuesday morning.

The $8 billion project, first announced more than a decade ago, had been delayed due to regulatory hurdles, financial uncertainty and opposition from environmental groups. It is being launched as oil prices have cratered.

But Tuesday, TC Energy — formerly TransCanada — gave the 1,200-mile-long project a green light. It expects the pipeline to be operational by 2023.

“This important energy infrastructure project is poised to put thousands of people to work, generate substantial economic benefits and strengthen the continent’s energy security,” said Russ Girling, TC Energy’s president and chief executive officer.

Oil has to be around 50 dollars a barrel for shale oil to break even. Who is going to finance shale oil now with crude at 20 dollars a barrel? Maybe Trump will give them some of the bail out money?

sweet crude flows out of the ground in many places, many countries. No more need for filthy, environment damaging extraction methods.

Let that 8 billion in future spending be spent on more positive for society ventures.

Keep on pushing, paying off, ... excuse me, I mean, FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING the right people, and if big business is behind it, it WILL get through, regardless of the smart science against it. American capitalism (gone amok) at its finest. It will just take longer.

THEY have patience and perseverance.

We get distracted by whatever shiny object they throw in front of us... be it entertainment, new toys, celebrity worship, totally destructive social media, or non stop faux outrage.

We have GOT to learn how to FOCUS, and get the job done.
