Canadian province leader 'infuriated' Trump blocking medical exports despite 9/11 help
Source: The Hill
Canadian leaders are criticizing President Trumps ban on exports of N95 masks to the neighboring country.
One province leader said hes infuriated with the decision, especially in light of Canadas assistance to the U.S. in 2001 by sheltering stranded U.S. passengers after the 9/11 attacks.
To say that Im infuriated by the recent actions of President Trump of the United States is an understatement, Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball told The Associated Press. I cannot believe for a second that in a time of crisis that President Trump would even think about banning key medical supplies to Canada.
...
Ball noted that Canada helped cater to the more than 6,600 passengers in 2001 that descended on the 10,000-person town of Gander in Newfoundland.

The GOP must die for the good of the country. They have proven themselves to be traitors as well as petty grifters and thieves.

This is what happens when Republicans lead.

(1,336 posts)But our Prime Minister and his Cabinet have to tread a very fine line in dealing with the Covidiot. So far, they have been extremely diplomatic, and they know that public criticism is the one thing he cannot bear, and he WILL strike back. That's what happens when you're dealing with one who has no conscience.
By the way, it wasn't just Gander, Nfld that cared for all those folks. Every major airport in Canada allowed planes bound for the US to land on 9/11. And Bush didn't even have the decency to publicly thank my country.

(25,963 posts)just does not need any of this aggro from the US. It pains me that our country is such a bad neighbor. We love you guys, we really appreciate what a great neighbor Canada is and all of the lovely things you have done for us when we needed it. We should be repaying those favors now, or at least behaving ourselves, and it just isn't working out that way. I hope we can all hang in there until we get things back to a better footing.

(9,888 posts)I cannot condemn him for this one thing. We are in dire straits with the N95s (if we aren't I will change my thinking) and this is in no way analogous to 9/11. It's not a clearly right or clearly wrong situation to me. Ship out some scarce resources to others in need, don't ship out scare resources so that we can take care of our own need. I wouldn't call it greedy to keep them for ourselves based on need, because then you're in the same boat as Trump calling Cuomo a whiner because he wants the world's supply of ventilators. A couple days ago everyone was mad because he was shipping them out. Which is it?
