Trump Keeps Talking. Some Republicans Don't Like What They're Hearing.

Aides and allies increasingly believe the presidents daily briefings are hurting him more than helping, and are urging him to let his medical experts take center stage.
April 9, 2020
WASHINGTON In his daily briefings on the coronavirus, President Trump has brandished all the familiar tools in his rhetorical arsenal: belittling Democratic governors, demonizing the media, trading in innuendo and bulldozing over the guidance of experts.
Its the kind of performance the president relishes, but one that has his advisers and Republican allies worried.
........................
Mr. Trump sometimes drowns out his own message, said Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who has become one of the presidents informal counselors and told him a once-a-week show could be more effective. Representative Susan Brooks of Indiana said theyre going on too long. Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia said the briefings were going off the rails a little bit and suggested that he should let the health professionals guide where were going to go.
Even the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board chastised the president for his behavior at the briefings. Covid-19 isnt shifty Schiff, it wrote in an editorial on Thursday, using Mr. Trumps nickname for Representative Adam Schiff. Its a once-a-century threat to American life and livelihood.
With only intermittent attempts to adapt to a moment of crisis, Mr. Trump is effectively wagering that he can win re-election in the midst of a national emergency on a platform of polarization...................................

(9,111 posts)He's ugly and has a horrible personality and terrible values, so the ladies don't like him, don't find him attractive. He sucks at business, can't do one thing right to make money for himself. He sucks at leading, all his leadership decisions end in disaster. He sucks at golf, always has to cheat. Everyone hates him, he has no friends, so he sucks at interpersonal relationships.
This kind of stuff hurts his self image, deep down inside his tiny tiny mind he's self-aware about that. On the surface he regards himself as a good looking casanova, super rich and successful, super cunning in business and finances, a captain of industry and great leader of men, who has a very busy schedule, is athletic, plays as hard as he works, and affable, one of the boys, very popular, who everyone loves.
In his tiny diseased mind, he knows and registers every failure to live up to his surface self image. He knows his only true power is to constantly lie and tell others how he scores the highest in all of those categories. His power is to tell people lies that, if nobody dares to call him on, must be true.
His one power is to tell shitty transparent lies without getting called on them, so reality is whatever he says at the moment. And he tells his fucked up flunky followers he hates everyone they hate, so it's great to hate, he's letting them off the chain, to act on their hate.
His only actual power or proficiency is all the shit that comes out of that anus like mouth of his.

Every republican running should have his image paired with an image of Trump saying "I take no responsibility at all."

(4,742 posts)The "rally around the flag" syndrome is very true. Wars, conflicts, crisis shows that US Presidents typically get a fairly large boost in approval ratings just from people hoping the leader will do the right thing and navigate the crisis on our behalf.
Trump's approval was around 43% going into the crisis. It went up to about 45.8% in 538 a few weeks back. Now it is back down to 44.4% and trending south. I know for a fact that his admin and re-election people look at this closely. They really can't afford to have Trump going south as we are now only 7 months away. His approval during the crisis shoudl be in 60s or 70s and never went above 46%. That is REALLY BAD for him.

He is such an ass, just listening to Randi Rhodes From Tuesday, he wants to be praised by reporters saying he is doing a wonderful job, she was asking about testing kits and medical equipment, and again he takes no responsibility and says that's the states job. This fucking ass has to go.
