Former Aides to Bernie Sanders Form a Super PAC to Support Joe Biden

Source: New York Times

Former top advisers to Senator Bernie Sanders are teaming up on a surprising new venture to try to rally progressive support for former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s 2020 campaign: a super PAC.

Jeff Weaver, who served as Mr. Sanders’s campaign manager in 2016 and as a top adviser in 2020, is leading the effort, which will focus on mobilizing the base of Sanders supporters — young people, liberals Latinos and “blue-collar progressives” — for Mr. Biden.

Other top Sanders officials from the 2020 race who will be involved include Chuck Rocha, a senior adviser who focused on Latino outreach, Tim Tagaris, who oversaw digital strategy and fund-raising, and Shelli Jackson, a California strategist for the campaign. Mark Longabaugh, who worked for Mr. Sanders in 2016 but left the 2020 campaign early on, is also part of the new group.

Mr. Sanders has railed for years against super PACs, which can accepted unlimited donations, emphasizing his reliance on millions of small contributions from supporters online to fuel his two presidential bids.

This is a great and positive direction that I have been waiting for. I gave Sanders the legal limit and will sacrifice for Joe now. No bashing please, all I ever wanted was Health Care for All as my doctor daughter is tired of practicing medicine with one hand tied behind her back!

We have no time to waste. Payday is Friday and I will look so see how much I can give Joe, though I am just middle class and retired.

precautions in a pandemic hot spot being a "BLOW to Democracy" when it doesn't fit their preferences isn't a good look for any progressive.

It smacks of the same privilege displayed by those white people on courthouse lawns waving weapons and talking about how their rights to assemble and FREE SPEECH are being "suppressed" and how the police trying to convince them to please observe the social distancing ordinances are "fascist."

I am quite progressive but those Bernie fans who won’t vote need to think that through and realize Biden is infinitely preferable to the Dump Evil Low Life there now.

Now... Chitolini, keep being dumb enough to keep losing your crazy fans to this virus.

“The senator is not supportive of super PACs. He is not supportive of this super PAC,” Mr. Weaver said in an interview Tuesday. “He certainly would prefer we had not done it through a super PAC,” he added. “Each of us has to make our own decision about how to move forward.”

and you're entitled to it. It's a fact that both Biden and Bernie supporters are coming together to help defeat Traitor Trump. I was merely pointing out that there is still a lot of hate for Bernie Sanders, which doesn't help our effort to oust Trump and the Rethugs.

Your initial premise is denied by your closing statement, directly implying Biden supporters are not in fact, " trying to come together and get the Orange Shitstain out of office!"

Your alleged sentiment becomes suspect when you are guilty of what you indict others for.

Come together, indeed...

Talked a lot about how everybody was conspiring to defeat him, all the corrupt enemies who hate and fear him.

I think he likes to be hated. For some reason. He definitely will not say "Happy Birthday" to anyone.
