Trump says he's 'in charge' of 'fast track' work to produce a coronavirus vaccine

Source: CNBC

“I’m not overpromising,” he added. “Whatever the maximum is, whatever you can humanly do, we’re going to do.”

When asked by a reporter who is in charge of the vaccine operation, Trump said, “honestly, I am.”

“I’m really in charge of it,” he said. “I think probably more than anything I’m in charge.”

Hopes to get a vaccine to market are high, but scientists want expectations to be low for how quickly it can happen. Developing, testing and reviewing any potential vaccine is a long, complex and expensive endeavor that could take months or even years. U.S. health officials have repeatedly said it would take at least 12 to 18 months to produce a usable vaccine against the virus.

He's in charge of patting himself on the back. That's about it.

And he's likely to break his arm doing it.

'I think probably more than anything' that there is enough wiggle room there to make it mean whatever he wants it to.

"I think": not likely.
"probably": weasel-ly.
"more than anything": what thing? and more of whatever that thing is. Or not. Probably.

one of the few things a president should be unambiguously clear on is who's in charge of what.

there's room for doubt in any complex issue (not that donnie has any appreciation for complexity) but who's in charge of what is something that needs to be pretty damn clear in any organization.

Trump will charge some ridiculers high price that only the 1% can afford. Or else the vaccine will be a scam with Trump claiming it works when in fact you are getting a shot of sugar water.

The impeached Dunning Kruger speciman has certainly never heard of nor would he understand, Frankie Kelsey who saved this country from the thousands of deaths and deformities experienced by the rest of the world being prescribed thalidomide as a treatment for pregnant women.

walk down the hallway.

But you still have the grifter's perennial instinct to steal, even if it's just credit for something.

Work is going to get done, but the only contribution you ever seem to make is to get in the way.

He does not have the faintest idea how to run something like that. There are plenty of politicians who I like who shouldn't be in charge of it, but they'd know it; the more that Trump sticks his fat arse on it (beyond the name - that could be Trump - he can stretch to basic Star Trek references), the more he'll ruin it.

Thankfully, we know he's lying. He doesn't know the difference between a virus and a bacterium; he thought injecting disinfectant would be safe. I wouldn't trust him to put a bandaid on someone. He doesn't have the patience to read one page summaries of basic intelligence, let alone hear the details of alternative vaccine strategies, trials and so on. Not even Ivanka would let him run it.
