Oregon will begin reopening sectors of public life closed due to the coronavirus pandemic starting May 15, but large gatherings will continue to be prohibited through the summer.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced Thursday that all large gatherings, including sporting events, festivals and fairs, will remain off-limits through at least September, until the state has access to a vaccine or reliable treatment for COVID-19.
Gov. Brown said local gatherings of up to 25 people will be allowed during phase one of the states reopening plan. She did not give specific numbers for larger gatherings, nor a timeline for when they might once again be permitted to take place.

(9,952 posts)My job is a big part of the "group" events. I ponder, when my job will be coming back. Personally, I do not want to even consider until beginning of June. I do love our state and like hearing "until the state has access to a vaccine or reliable treatment for COVID-19". That might be a while but I gotta tell you, Dying is not worth it. Now is a 40k hospital stay. I am not interested in ten days of fear and pain. I am not interested in long term disability neurologically or Kidney issues. I am in the 60 yr old age group so that would give me a 1 in 2 chance experiencing what I do not want.
My job would be working with people from out of our area so though our area is pretty safe, I would be dealing with people not from this area.
Interesting.

(78 posts)but it's still too lax for my taste. Personally, I think that, at a minimum, the entire country should remain in Deep Lockdown until everybody has been tested.

(212 posts)Too many stores are still open. I had to go to the grocery store the other day and was shocked by the number of cars on the road. People are clearly not staying home.
