Trump is getting trounced among a crucial constituency: The haters
Source: Politico
President Donald Trump is losing a critical constituency: voters who see two choices on the ballot and hate them both.
Unlike in 2016, when a large group of voters who disliked both Trump and Hillary Clinton broke sharply for Trump, the opposite is happening now, according to public polling and private surveys conducted by Republicans and Democrats alike.
It's a significant and often underappreciated group of voters. Of the nearly 20 percent of voters who disliked both Clinton and Trump in 2016, Trump outperformed Clinton by about 17 percentage points, according to exit polls.
Four years later, that same group including a mix of Bernie Sanders supporters, other Democrats, disaffected Republicans and independents strongly prefers Biden, the polling shows. The former vice president leads Trump by more than 40 percentage points among that group, which accounts for nearly a quarter of registered voters, according to a Monmouth University poll last week.

(2,166 posts)that THAT particular group (who hated both candidates) went for Trump. Now that group is going for Biden. Good news!

(1,685 posts)Here is the problem:
If those people who have shifted are not consolidated in the states where we need them to be then it wont matter. Trump could lose the popular vote even worse but if those haters who now seem to support Biden arent where they will make a difference in the electoral college then Trump would still win.
It is great that the group of people that hated Hillary so much and contributed to us having Trump in the first place now have seen the fruits of their stupidity.

(43,128 posts)A career politician with generally moderate to liberal reasoned positions who has not really alienated large groups of voters. I've not followed his career but being in the Philly media market all I can remember is Biden was always there, his press releases made sense, he stirred not a whole lot of controvery other than Supreme Court nominee hearings. He made government work, and he worked at that job. Perhaps being from a small state he didn't have to campaign outlandisly and move large groups of people. He wasn't crusading for radical ideas of large donors. Biden makes people feel comfortable.
Trump's taken two prominent swings at him to try to tarnish his character. Trump's motives are known, transparent, and you know there will be more. But the more Trump tries, the more Biden becomes inoculated. So I'm thinking these are the reasons voters are breaking against Trump, not to mention Trump's corruption and incompetence.

Soon over 100K unnecessary deaths the Obama/Biden pandemic-response team would have prevented. 33m unemployed now and a deficit their grandchildren won't see the end of, and soon a famine depression like nobody have ever seen before.

(15,278 posts)but he was on MSNBC talking about focus groups with these voters. They want change, don't see change and keep voting for candidates they think will bring change regardless of party. Thus the Obama-Trump voter that we read and hear so much about.

He hated both Trump and Clinton. He marked his ballot as a write in with the comment "None of the above - please go back and try again". He is unsure how he is going to vote this year - either vote for Biden or so what he did in 2016.
