Protesters damage College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta
Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Protesters smashed windows at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta and damaged a Chick-fil-A restaurant next door to the museum.
Some protesters were seen looting the building before several officers arrived to try to maintain order at the $68 million facility, which opened in 2014 to great fanfare after relocating from South Bend, Ind.
Several hurled garbage cans and other objects through the glass exterior of the building, which hosts football watch parties and other major events. Some then rushed inside to grab anything they could.
Nearby, a Georgia Tech police car burned as protesters chanted: No justice, no peace.

What did the College Football Hall of Fame do to George Floyd, again? Floyd is a former college basketball player, so destroying a repository of college sports memorabilia is basically tantamount to urinating on his grave.

(2,022 posts)and in the background could see this man trying to destroy a trash container. It was built very solidly (as they are in cities after years of experience) and he was not making progress, but keep going at it. It was so surreal - what did that trash container have to do with Floyd?

(14,853 posts)I might as well just laugh about it now, because I'm actually thinking this country is screwed.
The last vestiges of me thinking that Americans could cooperate and fix our problems with politics is pretty much gone. It's clear that many other Americans have no faith in such things, and it can't happen without their help.
I'll still vote for the Democrats in November as always, but I'm not so hopeful anymore.

(2,494 posts)A lot of sports-based universities give black athletes an inadequate education, little to no chance of a pro-career, and if they're injured they get ditched. So I can understand the reason behind that.
