Women's group launches campaign to spur female turnout for Democrats

Supermajority, a womens group founded by progressive leaders, is launching a multimillion-dollar effort this fall to activate female voters, a critical constituency for Democrats as they aim to retake the White House.
The group is rolling out its What Women Want 2020 agenda on Wednesday, focused on tying a policy platform to racial justice and gender equity. That messaging push will be backed up by a $10 million effort, including digital ad buys, which will focus on turning out young women and women of color in three key swing states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Arizona.
We know women have an outsized role in this election, [and] were harnessing our electoral power, said Juanita Tolliver, political director of Supermajority. Thats why were making this heavy investment in not only mobilizing but organizing and educating women.
The groups ad rollout coincides with a national organizing campaign, Supercharge: Women All In, launching on Sept. 26 with a virtual event featuring actress Eva Longoria, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former HUD Secretary Julian Castro. The effort will use text messages, phone-banking and letter-writing to mobilize women of color in battleground states.

(6,207 posts)but I don't relate to the progressive label. I am a proud member of the Democratic Party. Progressives are welcomed to join us and I sure hope they do. However they have to understand that they are part of the Dem Party, but not in control of the Dem Party. We are a diverse party and all are welcomed. If we don't win in November, they can kiss their goals good bye. We do need each other.

(127,331 posts)Hit ALL women and not keep expecting black women alone to bail out asses while perpetually battling every obstacle known just to even vote (when we already vote upwards of 96% or more for Democrats yet only represent < 7% of the voting age population), and then point fingers at us if the outcome desired doesn't happen, after throwing up your hands when it comes to every other woman.
