Trump says U.S. has no proof yet of 'tragic' Navalny poisoning

Source: Reuters

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States must look “very seriously” into the suspected poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, but that his administration had not yet seen any proof.

“It’s tragic. It’s terrible, it shouldn’t happen. We haven’t had any proof yet, but I will take a look,” Trump said at a news conference, before telling journalists they should be focusing on China, not Russia.

Trump did not take as strong a stand as the State Department, which earlier on Friday expressed grave concern about the finding that Navalny was poisoned.

In a meeting in Washington earlier on Friday, Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun told Russian Ambassador Anatoliy Antonov that Moscow’s use of this chemical weapon would be a clear violation of its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Our allies have medically confirmed it was a poisoning by GRU-manufactured Novichok. We KNOW Putin did this.

without restraint.

Funny how Putin's chief rival and political opponent gets a distinctly Russian treatment, yet we should be looking at China.

There simply is no shame, and he really thinks we'll give consideration to this. He really thinks we'll be misdirected. Sometimes, we ask him questions just for the giggle factor.

Trump continues to bend over backwards to appease Putin.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/05/politics/trump-putin-relationship/index.html

Washington (CNN)As Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his efforts to exert his personal influence around the globe and meddle in American democracy and is accused of using a nerve agent to poison one of his main political opponents, President Donald Trump broke his recent silence on Russia and the attack on Alexey Navalny, calling it "tragic" but emphasizing that he has a good relationship with the Russian leader.

"I don't know exactly what happened. I think it's tragic. It's terrible; it shouldn't happen. We haven't had any proof yet, but I will take a look," Trump said on Friday in a news conference at the White House. In response to further questions on the matter he attempted to deflect to his favorite opponent, claiming that what China is doing is "far worse." And as he had done the night before at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, he stressed, "I do get along with President Putin."

There was no reference to Russian efforts to interfere in US politics following Thursday's news that an intelligence bulletin issued by the Department of Homeland Security warned that Moscow is attempting to sow doubt about the integrity of the 2020 elections by amplifying false claims that mail-in voting resulting in widespread fraud.

And the President made no mention of other provocations in recent weeks, including a collision between a Russian military convoy and a US armored vehicle that injured seven American troops. Trump appears starkly out of step with the leaders of Britain and Germany, who have expressed outrage at the attack on Navalny.

And still promoting putins propaganda for him, so don't expect him to admit putin is a murderer, and a terrorist, he won't. He's putins puppet and his russian asset, and likely broke and can't make his payment to him now. I expect trump to start filing bankruptcy soon while he skims campaign funds for himself, and cuts campaign spending knowing its over.

Trump is a Russian Asset.

He needs proof for Putin allegations, But he needs no proof to say “Obama spied on us”.

I’m not relying just on the November election. Starting now, it’s a fullcourt press on Trump bullshit. We have to smother Trump surrogates in the backcourt before they even get a chance to pas the ball to Fat Nixon parked under the basket.

Basketball players understand, defense for the next 60 days is a full court press. Contest EVERY inbound propaganda that they try to throw into play.

Without resistance, to use the analogy, Trump made too many baskets sitting under his own goal, waiting for Them to pass him the ball so he can dunk. Dunk is his only shot—it’s low class insult. He has nothing else, no intellect, no reasoned argument, no explanation. Just mocking and name calling.

Keep the ball out of his hands, make his surrogates work.
