Probe launched after bags of mail dumped in 2 spots in L.A. area

September 7, 2020 / 3:51 AM / CBS News

An investigation was underway after surveillance video captured bags of mail being dumped in the parking lot of a Glendale spa, CBS Los Angeles reports. The video, taken outside of 7Q salon, shows a Budget box truck backed into the parking lot. Moments later, bag after bag could be seen being tossed from the back of the truck and onto the ground.

Lilia Serobian, co-owner of the salon, found the bags and took cell phone video of them Thursday when she realized they were filled with hundreds of unopened envelopes and packages from the U.S. Postal Service.

"It was completely unusual," Serobian said. "If they're taking for their personal use, basically, why'd they have to drop off all the unopened packages somewhere."
.........................
"Of course it's suspicious," she said. "You start thinking, 'OK, something is going on,' because no one has access to all those boxes and packages.".........................

Why would they dump it in a place that would obviously get attention? Sapient Donkey Sep 2020 #12

The first part of the clip is from a surveillance camera that had an obstructed view.

"See, people are stealing mail from the USPS and dumping it. It's bad. It's horrible. It needs to be shut down. No mail in voting."

You know, something like that. It just seems like this is something that would be done with the intent it is discovered and made public. Otherwise, why not dump it in the middle of nowhere? If you're going to steal a bunch of mail and packages, then why not actually go through it?

Funny how Trumpizoids like to perform acts that have foreign words associated with them.

and no doubt looked to make sure there was a camera to catch it.

Postal Inspection Service can probably trace the tracking numbers on some of it to see where it came from. Maybe a truck got robbed.

Not to mention to add to the sense of chaos and uncertainty.

We had a couple who moved to Mexico visit us last night while they are back in the states so he can get health care at the VA.

They registered to vote while here and plan to vote from Mexico as ex-pats. But they had relatively superficial information about the election so they picked our brain.

At the end of the evening, the wife remarked on how much fear they could hear about the election. I got the impression it was more than our anxiety they sensed but a wider one.

They lean moderately conservative but independent. After they left I realized I hadn't been as straight with them about how dangerous Trump is to democracy as I should have. They kept interrupting with questions and my husband and I both were trying to fill them in while trying to appear (and be) fair-minded.

This morning I pulled together and emailed them some material from one of the mental health professionals in the Duty to Warn organization, and got direct.

The most I got from them was they had a lot of thinking and praying ahead of them.

We've known them for more than 20 years so hopefully they'll know we are not Cassandras and believe us.

Sometimes I get FedEx packages delivered by a contractor driving a Budget truck.......or any number of other kinds of vehicles.

I feel like it would be pretty easy for them to trace back which sub-contractor was supposed to deliver that particular batch of mail. Dump it in the desert or create a bonfire, don't dump it some place where it's bound to be found and Postal Investigators put on the case.
