CNN kicks Trump adviser off air after he refuses to address Woodward revelations

CNN host Jake Tapper abruptly ended his interview with economist Peter Navarro on Sunday after the White House adviser repeatedly failed to answer a question about Donald Trump misleading the public about the deadliness of Covid-19 earlier this year.

When Mr Tapper asked Mr Navarro to address the audio recording of Mr Trump’s private comments to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward in February about how “deadly” the coronavirus pandemic was — even as he was publicly likening it to the common flu — Mr Navarro swerved into a long rundown of the Trump administration’s actions on the health crisis.

"I'm not giving you 10 minutes to do this," the CNN host said in an attempt to return to the question at hand about Mr Trump’s attempt to purposely mislead the American people. "I'm specifically talking about what President Trump was saying to the public in February and March," Mr Tapper said.

Mr Navarro shot back:"You're not honest with the American people. CNN is not honest with the American people. Do you want to go there?"

Mr Tapper cut in again: “You didn't answer the question. Thank you Peter Navarro. We just played tapes, you didn't answer my question. You didn't answer the question, no you didn't. OK, Peter Navarro, thank you so much. I appreciate your time today. Thank you so much.”

23. Navarro's bullshit just isn't working anymore, if it ever did.

1) I don’t recall anyone back in January and February confusing COVID with the flu. It was clear from the get-go what this was.

2) The “Chinavirus” meme is offensive and tired, and is nothing more than a racist, cynical dogwhistle to deflect from our embarassing nonresponse to this.

3) The whatabouttery with Pelosi and whoever else Navarro brought up still does not hide the fact that TRUMP knew, but chose to ignore, the threat this disease presented to the country when there was still some time to form some kind of intelligent response to it.

All this is on tape from Trump himself, in his own words, in his own voice. Navarro, admit that your man is a murderous liar who cannot be defended. Stop trying to gaslight everyone else into believing otherwise. And media, stop giving these people the air to spew their crap. We don’t have the time for it anymore. Let them live in their alternate universe, while we try to survive in the real one.
