Graham commits to supporting Trump 'in any effort to move forward' in filling Ginsburg's seat

Source: CNN

(CNN)Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham on Saturday said he will support President Donald Trump "in any effort to move forward" with a nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, just hours after Trump made clear he wants the seat left vacant by her death filled "without delay."

Graham claimed in a string of tweets that "the two biggest changes regarding the Senate and judicial confirmations that have occurred in the last decade have come from Democrats," adding later: "In light of these two events, I will support President @realDonaldTrump in any effort to move forward regarding the recent vacancy created by the passing of Justice Ginsburg."

Earlier Saturday, Graham responded to Trump's tweet calling for Republicans to act quickly on a nominee, saying, "I fully understand where the President is coming from." The South Carolina Republican pointed to recent comments he made about filling a Supreme Court seat, including telling reporters in April that "the rules have changed as far as I'm concerned" after Justice Brett Kavanaugh's contentious confirmation battle in 2018.

Graham, who's facing a competitive reelection, has offered differing views about whether he would try to confirm a nominee during the last year of Trump's term. His Saturday tweet marked a notable shift from his comments to CNN in July that he didn't know how practical it would be to try to fill a vacancy in the remaining months.

Liars continue to lie, but if oppose this lack of morals and seek to honor Ginsberg's legacy, donate to Lindsey's opponent, Jamie Harrison:

Senate Judiciary chairman Lindsey Graham’s Saturday announcement that he intends to support the president’s Supreme Court justice nomination during an election year pits him against one of the most prominent voices in the Republican party.

That would be his 2016 self.

As debate swirls on whether President Trump should replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the election, progressive activists are circulating video of the South Carolina senator stating in 2016 that Republicans were setting precedent against appointing new justices in an election year by blocking President Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court following the death of Antonin Scalia.

“I want you to use my words against me,” Graham said on the Senate floor four years ago. "If there’s a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination.”

Graham does worse as red voters (who gave Trump a 15% margin laSt time around) see him as not supporting Trump.

This is the kind of hypocrisy they were hoping for.

$30 million dollars just came in.

I think it was $2 million... raising his total for the cycle to $30 million.

the newly elected senators on Nov 3rd should be the ones voting to confirm the SC justice -- this would mean Jamie Harrison, not Miss Lindsey.

Do not give this asshole any more attention for being a lying, piece-of-shit hypocrite. They feed off of “liberal tears” and being a hypocrite is a badge of honor to the entire cult.

Ignore him, who gives a rat’s ass what Graham says anymore?

Focus your energy on the right-wing, lackey nominee, supporting Graham’s challenger, and voting for Democrats now through November.

Democrats have a good game of their own, don’t be distracted along the way to capturing the presidency and Senate with those strengths. And let Trump make the inevitable mistakes he has always made. Except this time, big money interests won’t come to his rescue. They won’t put good money after bad.
