McCarthy threatens motion to oust Pelosi if she moves forward with impeachment
Source: The Hill
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Wednesday threatened to introduce a motion to oust Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) if she attempts to impeach President Trump or Attorney General William Barr as a delay tactic to prevent the Senate from confirming Trump's Supreme Court nominee.
Some have pushed for Pelosi to impeach Barr or Trump, for a second time, as a stall tactic to keep empty the seat vacated by late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg until after the presidential election. Appearing Sunday on ABC's "This Week," Pelosi said, "We have our options. We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now."
McCarthy blasted the comments and said he believes the president is correct in moving forward with a nomination ahead of the election.
"The president is supposed to move forward and they will. The Senate is supposed to take the action and they will - it's their constitutional right and they are following through," he told reporters at a press briefing on Wednesday.

(3,166 posts)Saying it's the Senators' "constitutional right" to follow through with the confirmation. Shouldn't that be their "constitutional duty"? And they sure as hell shirked that duty when Obama nominated Garland to the court.

(33,310 posts)it sure was their duty in 2016, but they shirked it.
now they don't feel like shirking. who knows why? oh well, consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds I guess!

(70,489 posts)Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthys assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

(42,693 posts)It cant pass because it takes 2/3 vote. But McCarthys motion would fail too and if the Democrats stayed united they might get more votes to expel McCarthy than McCarthy will get to oust Pelosi

(42,693 posts)Only requires a simple majority. In fact move to censure the entire Repub caucus.
If McCarthy wants to pull a stunt lets show him how its done.
