An explosive new report from The Washington Post, published on Wednesday, detailed President Donald Trumps private conversations with White House aides and other administration officials.
In private, the report stated, Trump made racially-charged comments about Black Americans and pushed anti-Semitic tropes.
After phone calls with Jewish lawmakers, the commander-in-chief said that Jews stick together and are only in it for themselves, according to officials.
In the alleged remarks, he suggested that Jewish Americans are disloyal to the United States, promoting an anti-Semitic canard.
Trump has also made insensitive statements about African Americans, suggesting that they are to blame for racial inequality and structural racism, officials said.

(16,616 posts)fellow Jews who were voting for Trump, imploring them to recognize the signs of a fascist dictator, and even bringing up the Holocaust. Joe Scarborough pooh-pooed it, stepping on the emotional moment with a stupid joke.
This is pretty explosive, albeit unsurprising to people who have paid attention. He's made offensive and ignorant remarks on this subject before, questioning the loyalty of Jewish people.

(47,399 posts)He probably doesn't think there is anything wrong with what he said. To him, it is just a statement of fact, "Jews are _____, Blacks are ____, Mexicans are ____, Muslims are ____, etc." In his narrow world view, people fall into certain categories and he is just describing them. He rarely sees people as individuals. He also doesn't think there is anything wrong with lying or cheating, as long as you're winning.
That said, he knows that other people often think there is something wrong with the way he talks about people, but he appears quite comfortable with his take on people.

(47,399 posts)but they had stereotypical views about different races or nationalities. When I explained it to them, they often could see they were mistaken. It is easy for people to become a product of the environment that they come from, but conscious people can move beyond that.

In unguarded moments with senior aides, President Trump has maintained that Black Americans have mainly themselves to blame in their struggle for equality, hindered more by lack of initiative than societal impediments, according to current and former U.S. officials. After phone calls with Jewish lawmakers, Trump has muttered that Jews are only in it for themselves and stick together in an ethnic allegiance that exceeds other loyalties, officials said.
Trumps private musings about Hispanics match the vitriol he has displayed in public, and his antipathy to Africa is so ingrained that when first lady Melania Trump planned a 2018 trip to that continent he railed that he could never understand why she would want to go there. When challenged on these views by subordinates, Trump has invariably responded with indignation. He would say, No one loves Black people more than me, a former senior White House official said. The protests rang hollow because if the president were truly guided by such sentiments he wouldnt need to say it, the official said. You let your actions speak. In Trumps case, there is now a substantial record of his actions as president that have compounded the perceptions of racism created by his words.
Over 3½ years in office, he has presided over a sweeping U.S. government retreat from the front lines of civil rights, endangering decades of progress against voter suppression, housing discrimination and police misconduct. His immigration policies hark back to quota systems of the 1920s that were influenced by the junk science of eugenics, and have involved enforcement practices including the separation of small children from their families that seemed designed to maximize trauma on Hispanic migrants. With the election looming, the signaling behind even second-tier policy initiatives has been unambiguous.
After rolling back regulations designed to encourage affordable housing for minorities, Trump declared himself the champion of the Suburban Lifestyle Dream. He ordered aides to revamp racial sensitivity training at federal agencies so that it no longer refers to White privilege. In a speech at the National Archives on Thursday, Trump vowed to overhaul what children are taught in the nations schools something only states have the power to do while falsely claiming that students are being fed lies about America being a wicked nation plagued by racism. The America envisioned by these policies and pronouncements is one dedicated to preserving a racial hierarchy that can be seen in Trumps own Cabinet and White House, both overwhelmingly white and among the least diverse in recent U.S. history.

(47,399 posts)not societal impediments? Unlike Trump who had the "initiative" to take $400 million from his father and go bankrupt 5 or 6 times? Donald is a real "pulled myself up by my bootstraps" kind of guy.

(47,399 posts)I can remember hearing such crap when I was very young, but you hardly expect to hear it today from a public figure. Many might think it, but few would say it out loud. For some bizarre reason, Trump seems to think that no one will ever repeat the horrible crap he says. I honestly think he just can't help himself, it just comes rushing out of his mouth. Once he starts ranting, he often can't stop.

(128,844 posts)like Steve King (Idiot-IA). Thankfully that one was finally shown the door.
As an "entertainer" (like most), he has one persona "in private" and the other "for the public". However when one starts mentally going downhill, the 2 personas start crossing and there is a tendency for stream-of-consciousness utterances.

(47,399 posts)lasted in office as long as he did. He was never subtle or tactful. It was like he had time traveled from the 1950s. I have to wonder if what he was thinking might have actually been worse than what he spoke out loud. Maybe we were getting the filtered version?

(128,844 posts)And when the racists were "given permission" to celebrate their white nationalist and nativist leanings after the 2016 election, he was free to just blurt out whatever he might have even said privately... and do so non-stop. He would have kept at it too if not for being primaried.
