Experts are warning of a coming surge of Covid-19 cases in US

Source: CNN

The US could see an explosion of Covid-19 cases as fall and winter set in, one expert says, joining a chorus of health officials who have warned about the challenges of the coming months.

Two things will likely help drive that expected winter surge, according to Dr. Chris Murray, director of the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

"First, as case counts have come down in some states, we tend to see that people become less careful, they tend to have more contact," he said. "But then the most important effect is the seasonality of the virus, that people go indoors, transmission happens more."

..snip..

More than 203,000 Americans have already died from the virus since the start of the pandemic and more than 7 million have been infected, according to Johns Hopkins University. At least 24 states are now reporting a rise in new cases compared to the previous week, mostly across the US heartland and Midwest, according to data from Johns Hopkins.

After Biden is sworn in as President, the damned repugs are going to attack him relentlessly about the number of people dying 'on his watch'.

Forever the way the Cons gained power is by screaming about everything to disillusion the masses (thanks to FOX and all). Trump lies endlessly and they love him. So not only should you expect attacks/lies/over-dramatization about taxes, debt, military...blah, blah, blah-it is what will happen. The anchor around their neck will be following T-Wrecks. We can blast them with that for decades about the mess he made.

I am reading that there are cases where people get it, then recover, then get it again and the second time it's worse. The first time I had it I just had some swollen lymph nodes in my neck and some slight shortness of breath. But that lasted just a few days. But next time I may not be so lucky.

leads to relaxing vigilance. How many of us are still sequestering food supplies for a week, washing and wiping packages with soap and bleach, social distancing at proper distances.

I'll have to put her on standby. I've had her in since the beginning of May when they opened up. I know she has to be careful herself due to her husband and a young child they take care of. Mostly the homes she does are either professionals or older people when no one is home. I stick to my office and socially distance. Right now were back to hot here in Ny.

Are, for the most part, within a 1,000 mile radius of the Sturgis, SD superspreader.

Had Trump properly handled the pandemic that continues to upend the economy and ravage people’s lives, 90% of U.S. coronavirus pandemic fatalities could have been prevented. Life would be drastically different from what we are experiencing today. By January 2021, pandemic fatalities in the U.S. are projected to more than double from their current number of over 200,000. This will be Trump’s macabre achievement for his criminally negligent handling of this pandemic. He was able to do much more than when he proclaimed he could stand on 5th Avenue, shoot someone, and get away with it. In fact, due to his lack of leadership, downplaying of the virus, obfuscation of CDC reporting, and failure to enact a coherent national plan, he will have killed more Americans than whom died in World War II.

A recent study in Texas has found the virus has mutated into a more transmittable stage. That will only make mask wearing more important. There is a new N95 CDC approved mask. This mask isn’t used by hospitals. So you aren’t preventing any health care worker from attaining a N95 mask .
The mask is called.... Respokare N95 ....google it. Not cheap but also not a fake product.
