PORTLAND (AP) Law enforcement declared an unlawful assembly late Saturday, forcing protesters from downtown Portland, Oregon, and making several arrests, just hours after demonstrations earlier in the day ended without many reports of violence.
Hundreds of people were gathered downtown in Oregons largest city when the unlawful assembly was announced just before midnight by the Multnomah County Sheriffs Office.
Images showed protesters crowded in and around a park near the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse the same courthouse that had been the scene of nightly unrest over the summer. A protester was seen burning an American flag.
Earlier, protesters had shot fireworks at police. Video posted by KOIN-TV showed officers warn that protesters who hurl projectiles will be subject to arrest.

(43,063 posts)and not the seemingly Fed/Gestapo. It's local/regional protests that get out of hand. To call it an insurrection is to escalate it to something more than it is; these protestors have no power to truly subvert/occupy government from what I've read. Thankfully it's somewhat de-escalated from mid-summer.

(35,949 posts)I refuse to call them protestors as the media do, because that conflates other anti-fascist protestors with these, who are really tools of reactionary fascist insurgency in democratic republic government.

(7,402 posts)Announced that Saturday night was to be an all hands on deck protest and he forecast that 10,000 people would rally in protest. Roughly 200 showed up so it looks like they are losing a lot of supporters. And I suspect the photo op of the burning flag is boogaloo.
