Joe Montana, wife block attempted kidnapping of grandchild

LOS ANGELES (AP) Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and his wife confronted a home intruder who attempted to kidnap their 9-month-old grandchild over the weekend, law enforcement officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, Montana told deputies that his grandchild was sleeping in a playpen on Saturday when an unknown woman entered their home in Malibu and grabbed the child. Montana and his wife, Jennifer, confronted the woman, whom authorities later identified as Sodsai Dalzell, tried to de-escalate the situation and asked her to give back their grandchild.
After a tussle, law enforcement officials say Jennifer Montana pried the child out of Dalzells arms.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, the former San Francisco 49ers star tweeted. Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time.

(277 posts)Although it wasn't reported in this article, Joe was able to throw a perfect pass and Dwight Clark was there to complete "The catch". The baby was perfectly fine after the throw but unfortunately did suffer minor injuries when Clark did the spike. While leaving the residence Clark was heard by several bystanders muttering "NEVER spike babies. NEVER spike babies".

(1,568 posts)For some reason I thought Joe Montana was like ten years older than that. Not sure why.

(724 posts)I'm a little more than half their age and I look like hell right now (cold).
That said, I'm happy the grandchild is safe!

(1,568 posts)Joe has always had an older looking face to me, though. I think that is why I assumed he was like 10 years older than he is. I saw a picture of him from when he was in mid-30's and I would have thought he was in his 40's.
During the recent super bowl when the 49ers playing, I kept asking where Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Bubba Paris were. It amused me how much that annoyed everyone. I was too young to have any memory of them playing, but those names were cemented in my brain for some reason.

(724 posts)I once heard a comedian say that Joe Montana is one of those names where you have to say the first and last..it is just natural to do so.
But you are right, he's one of those people who looked old when he was younger, but grew into his face (if that makes sense).
