Be Prepared: Biden Transition Team At Work Amid Limbo

Source: U.S. News

BY WILL WEISSERT, Associated Press

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Joe Biden's transition team isn't waiting for a verdict in the presidential race before getting to work. As officials continue to count ballots in several undecided states, longtime Biden aide Ted Kaufman is leading efforts to ensure the former vice president can begin building out a government in anticipation of a victory.

“While we’re waiting for the final results, I want people to know we are not waiting to get the work done,” Biden said in a speech late Friday night, appearing with his running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, at the convention center not far from his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden noted that he and Harris had met virtually Thursday with public health and economic experts as they begin working to combat the coronavirus pandemic, saying it is becoming “significantly more worrisome all across the country.”

Kaufman is a former senator from Delaware who was appointed to fill the seat vacated when Biden was elected vice president. He also worked on Barack Obama’s transition team in 2008, and helped write legislation formalizing the presidential transition process...

.... at the end of Dubya’s presidency. He (and Biden) got straight to work lining up everything to be ready on Day One.

It feels so good to see competency and decency step up again. Fingers crossed!

especially if she brings in a few key people from our state.. that would be awesome!

4. I hope he has his cabinet notified early -- like now -- so they can be getting ready for Day One.

That will give them time to select their employees and give everyone a chance to be up to speed for Day One.

Also, he needs to hire a political fumigator to make a list of everyone Trump brought into the government so they can be notified they won't have a job on January 21.

And between the inauguration and the first inaugural ball he should fire Bill Barr and the Postmaster General, and order Moscow Mitch into the Oval Office and lay down the law. There's a new sheriff in town.

there because PBO's admin didn't fire them - economy freefall, etc. They were the one's who helped Putin Party member hose up everything PBO and Democratic House & Senate do, feeding them information to media and getting on talk shows to pre-crap over all new legislation.

We'll never get another great chance to root out and purge them from the federal gov't.

Next, get the entire federal gov't on one IT system. If the Pentagon can do it - you NEVER hear about Pentagon being hacked - then federal gov't can do the same damn thing. It's the best time because whole dept's and bldg's aren't staffed by everyone.

Next, the PBO administration had the entire federal gov't write down and map out each and every employee's function within the federal gov't. Drill down in this article and read about how PBO did it all.

We'll never ever get chances like this again.

And they sure as hell got started, albeit with complete chaos ensuing, even though (if people remember then), it took awhile before they called a couple states like Wisconsin and Michigan.

Fortunately it's only been 4 years since 2 terms worth of Obama acolytes were there, so they do have a pool of people to call upon - whether for transition or for eventual permanent work.

A big thing that must be done during this time however, and that generally needs to happen with GSA action, is the leasing of space by GSA for the transition operations (i.e., the President/Vice President-elect's people do NOT have to continue to be the sole entities funding their office space because at this point (once pretty much confirmed), they will be extended government-funded space to be used through to the inauguration and completion of the transition.

Executive Orders during the transition. I'm sure the first EOs will be repealing every EO issued by Trump over the last 4 years.
