Conservative lawyers who catered to the conspiracy that leftist poll workers intentionally disenfranchised Trump supporters by giving them Sharpies to fill out their ballotsknowing that these ballots would be rejected as a resulthave quietly dropped their Sharpiegate lawsuit.
We have to talk about this because Sharpiegate gained significant traction on the right over the last week, in no small part because of a lawsuit targeting Maricopa County, Arizona. (9,963 posts)In Detroit, Trump supporters tried to break down the doors of one voting center to stop the vote count. NPR interviewed one of the poll workers in that vote center, and she said the doors and windows were rattling with their efforts. The workers inside didnt know whether those outside were armed, but they were afraid.
People need to be held accountable for false stories intended to provoke violence and for filing frivolous lawsuits. If we do not have relevant laws, then we need them.

(4,989 posts)UPDATE, 1:05 p.m.: Not long after this story was published a representative of The Kolodin Law Group PLLC sent Law&Crime a copy of the law firms new complaint about this issue, dated Nov. 9. Unlike the original complaint, the suit names the Trump campaign as a plaintiff. Also unlike the original suit, the facts of the case do not refer to a Sharpie but to a marking device (though included exhibits/declarations that were signed on Nov. 4 or Nov.5 do still refer to Sharpies).
