Hares Youssef claims he was promised a US visa in return for information that would damage Joe Bidens presidential campaign, writes Manveen Rana
After an election campaign built on attacking the reputation of his rivals son, Donald Trump is facing calls for a new legal investigation into his activities in Ukraine where he and his associates were looking for dirt on Hunter Biden.
The Stories of our Times podcast has spoken to a Ukrainian businessman who has admitted, for the first time, that he was asked to lie about Hunter Bidens business dealings to damage Joe Bidens reputation. In return, he was promised a US visa and legal immunity.

(48,988 posts)One thing about Authoritarian Dictatorships is that they are essentially massive bureaucracies where underlings insist on orders before taking risks, such as pushing through a visa outside of usual channels.
Parallel bureaucracies also generate their own "paper trails" (digital also) that can be used to convict them.
Biden should Day One seize private servers tRump Gang has been illegally using.

(18,623 posts)It really matters. If it was Rudy, then he's personally responsible and should answer how he, as a private citizen, would grant a visa and immunity.
If it was Trump or his family, that's direct government corruption. Using govt resources to sway an election is serious enough to impeach him again.
President quid pro quo strikes again.

(17,862 posts)Whatever assets Rudy G. has are going to Hunter. Hunter might also pick up a controlling interest in the NY Post as well.
I assume one of the 100 or so pardons Trump will issue will go to Rudy.
Then again maybe he will only take care of his family and himself instead (like always and not always his family).
it would be hilarious if the only pardons were for his kids and his son in law (and of course himself and Pence).

(17,862 posts)You know someone who could do a massive data dump to a little server sitting someplace relatively inaccessible. These folks would have to be supported by IT professionals someplace. Not all of them may be political loyalists.

Mr Youssef said that Mr Firtash was not involved in the approach and there is no suggestion that he was aware of the actions alleged to have been taken by his team.
...
Somebody from Firtashs team asked me if I wanted to get my visa back and to be able to travel to the United States again, Mr Youssef claimed. They said if we solved the problem in the United States, we can solve the problem of your visa, you can even get immunity, if we can use your investment in mbloom in this Hunter Biden case.
The allegations have been put to Mr Firtashs team, but they responded by reiterating the businessmans earlier claim that he did not collect any information, didnt finance anyone who would collect that information, and it would be a big mistake if I decided to get involved in such a fight.
Colonel Vindman said "This is entirely consistent with what I was tracking".
