'It's critical' for Republican leaders to explain to voters Trump lost the election: John Bolton
Source: ABC News
John Bolton, President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, said Sunday that leaders of the Republican Party should explain to their voters that Trump lost the election and that his claims of fraud are baseless.
"Now the Trump campaign is doing the legal equivalent of pitching pennies," Bolton said on ABC's "This Week." "I think as every day goes by, it's clearer and clearer, there isn't any evidence."
"But if the Republican voters are only hearing Donald Trump's misrepresentations, it's not surprising that they believe it," he added. "It's critical for other Republican leaders to stand up and explain what actually happened. Donald Trump lost what -- by any evidence we have so far -- was a free and fair election."
President-elect Joe Biden is currently projected to win 306 electoral votes compared to the president's 232. Trump continues to challenge the election results in court.

(3,514 posts)in the sense of saying that Joe Biden won. His concession, when it comes, will be a litany of petty grievances concluding with acknowledging Biden as the next president of the USA, but only because of massive fraud and cheating. The amount of damage this will cause the republic is of no concern to him whatsoever. He will go to his grave claiming he and his rabid followers were cheated out of a second term, absent any proof or evidence to back up that claim. And the ReThug party led by Mitch will offer no comment on those claims...

(12,539 posts)They could give a shit about the security of the United States. Just hand it over to Putin. Hell, if Trump declassifies everything related to the Russia investigation he's literally killing our intel sources in Russia.
They could give a shit about the 150,000 people who are infected with COVID each day, or the quarter million who have died from the disease.
They only care about power, and see Trump as the means to acquiring and maintaining it.

(9,883 posts)Trump supporters took that decision as Boltons belief that Trump had done nothing wrong. Had Bolton testified, others might have as well, perhaps even forcing the Senate to hold something other than a sham trial. Bribing a foreign power is impeachable. Bolton had the opportunity to verify that crime and refused to do so. He needs to shut up and go away. No one listens to him now.

Bolton might be lobbying for such a position, just thinking. There is always a reason.
I am sure that Bolton would be pleased to accept Ambassador to the UN.

He pushed the Iraq War. He worked for Reagan and Dubya.
He hates the UN, to which he was our ambassador at one time.
Keep this guy out of your Cabinet, Mr. President !
