Two MI GOP Election Officials Now Want to 'Rescind' Their Vote Approving Wayne County Results
Source: MEDIAite
On Tuesday night, Monica Palmer and William Hartmann initially voted against certification, deadlocking the county board in a 2 2 tie, which wouldve pushed the vote certification up to a state board for review. The shocking move ignited a fierce, public backlash and over the course of a three-hour public meeting, the pair ultimately changed their minds, endorsing a second, unanimous vote validating the vote, which included hundreds of thousands of votes for President-elect Joe Biden from majority African-American Detroit.
But almost exactly 24 hours later, Palmer disputed the promises she was told she received from one of her Democratic canvass board colleagues. She claims that, contrary to what she was told on Tuesday, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has not pledged to conduct a audit of the countys votes to clear up the minor clerical errors found.
...
Its not clear if this affidavit will have any effect on a certification vote that has been closed and registered with the state. At least one report cited the canvass boards Democratic vice chair saying the vote was final since, earlier on Wednesday, the state finished its full certification of the 2020 vote in all 83 counties.

(9,313 posts)After three hours of anger, the Republicans agreed to a compromise, and Wayne Countys election was certified after all.
Their experience signaled the enormous pressure that Trump and his Republican allies have put on the once-obscure offices and officers that administer American elections, by asking them to give legal weight to his outlandish claims.
In this case, it also demonstrated the mighty pushback that can arise from voters when those officers appear to give Trump what he wants.
Inside the Wayne County annex building in downtown Detroit, the board members took their seats at the front of the room. They were divided, politically and literally. Two White Republicans sat on the left. Two Black Democrats sat on the right. Between each one was a clear plexiglass divider, a measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

(33,643 posts)'being threatened and harassed'.
Just like the Erie, PA poll worker with the bullshit story about post-dating ballots ... recanted his story when the big bad FBI threatened him, then the next day put out a video saying he never recanted.
It's a tactic, and it's being coordinated. Bannon is behind all these I'd wager.

(6,226 posts)I live in a Wayne County suburb. We have an awesome SOS. I hope this can be stopped. If not, the vote moves to the State Board of Canvassers. Of course there are 2 repubs on it and I'm sure they will make trouble too. I hate repubs.

(5,637 posts)"In Wayne County, the two Republican canvassers at first balked at certifying the vote, winning praise from Trump, and then reversed course after widespread condemnation. A person familiar with the matter said Trump reached out to the canvassers, Monica Palmer and William Hartmann, on Tuesday evening after the revised vote to express gratitude for their support. Then, on Wednesday, Palmer and Hartmann signed affidavits saying they believe the county vote should not be certified. "
Seems grossly wrong if not criminal.

DETROIT President Trump called a GOP canvassing board member in Wayne County who announced Wednesday she wanted to rescind her decision to certify the results of the presidential election, the member said in a message to The Washington Post Thursday. I did receive a call from President Trump, late Tuesday evening, after the meeting, Monica Palmer, one of two Republican members of the four-member Wayne County canvassing board, told The Post. He was checking in to make sure I was safe after hearing the threats and doxing that had occurred.
The call came after an hours-long meeting on Tuesday in which the four-member canvassing board voted to certify the results of the Nov. 3 election, a key step toward finalizing President-elect Joe Bidens victory in the state. In affidavits signed Wednesday evening, the two GOP members of the four-member Wayne County Board of Canvassers allege they were improperly pressured into certifying the election and accused Democrats of reneging on a promise to audit votes in Detroit.
In an interview, Palmer estimated that she talked with Trump for about two minutes Tuesday. She said she felt no pressure to change her vote from him. His concern was about my safety and that was really touching. He is a really busy guy and to have his concern about my safety was appreciated, she told The Post.
Asked if they discussed the presidential vote count, she said: Its hard for me to describe. There was a lot of adrenalin and stress going on. There were general comments about different states but we really didnt discuss the details of the certification. Asked again about possible pressure from such a call, Palmer said: It was not pressure. It was genuine concern for my safety, she said.
