DeSantis suggests Chauvin jury may have been 'scared of what a mob' would do
Source: The Hill
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday suggested that the jury in the Derek Chauvin trial may have voted to convict the former Minneapolis police officer who was on trial for the killing of George Floyd because it was scared of what a mob may do.
During an appearance on Fox News hours after the guilty verdicts were read, host Laura Ingraham played a clip of an unnamed person in New York saying, If you continue to allow us to be murdered in the streets without justice, we will raise hell in America, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
In response, DeSantis called the remarks really, really troubling, adding I dont know what happened with this verdict, but if thats something that can potentially happen, where you basically have justice made meted out because the jury is scared of what a mob may do? And again Im not saying thats what happened here, but that speaker seemed to suggest that that had an impact, thats completely antithetical to the rule of law.

DeSantis rushed an "anti-riot" bill through Florida's legislature and signed it Monday. Florida's legislative session ends on April 30 and most bills become effective on July 1, giving all the affected parties a chance to familiarize themselves with changes in the law. DeSantis made sure HB-1 would go into effect immediately on his signature with the obvious intent of having extraordinary repressive and punitive options available to law enforcement in time for the Chauvin verdict.
DeSantis makes no attempt to hide his disappointment at the verdict and lack of "riots" afterward. Actual justice is now being labeled "mob intimidation."

The jurors should be pissed off that these blowhard GOP mothpieces are demeaning their civic duty. He called them chicken shit cowards when they did their duty.

(7,607 posts)DeSantis started pushing it during the George Floyd riots last year. The 60-page bill was filed on January 6- a ploy to (thinly) disguise the racist anti-BLM origin of the legislation.

(2,252 posts)there is a loophole in the law that allows for smashing into a racist, monkeyed up politician with covid blood on his hands. After he crumbles the car might back up over him 2 or 3 times. After that the tire might roll over his head until it cracks like a rotten egg, because he is one great big rotten egg. That's the word. Jus' sayin.'

(1,988 posts)As to which charge Chauvin was convicted of that he believes the State did not meet the burden of proof. Go ahead, Ron.. tell us.
Its so clear, all these idiots making these comments were hoping for acquittal and violence. Its all they were hoping for.

(972 posts)They're all saying it.
That the jurors were terrified not to convict, not only because they thought there would be riots, but that their personal safety was at stake because their identity would be found out eventually.
