The Republican who now leads the Arizona county elections department targeted by a GOP audit of the 2020 election results is slamming former President Donald Trump and others in his party for their continued falsehoods about how the election was run.
Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer on Saturday called a Trump statement accusing the county of deleting an elections database unhinged and called on other Republicans to stop the unfounded accusations.
. . .
Trump's statement said, in part, that the entire Database of Maricopa County in Arizona has been DELETED! This is illegal and the Arizona State Senate, who is leading the Forensic Audit, is up in arms.
Richer and the board say that statement is just plain wrong. In recent days, both he and the board have begun aggressively pushing back at what they see as continuing falsehoods from Republicans who question Trump's loss.

(111,245 posts)questioning everybody on how they voted to see if they match the numbered ballots they cast. You know, in total violation of the secret ballot we've always relied on in this country to prevent exactly this sort of thing, goons going door to door and leaning on people to say they voted the "right" way, be a shame to have anything happen to your house/car/kids.
What they're trying for is absolutely insane. I have to hope all the states they're questioning tell them to go to hell.

(13,573 posts)voted. Most people don't check that, but if there were large numbers of mail-in ballots somehow sneaked in, they would have to be matched to registered voters.
I asked a local republican activist if she had a million bucks to get our local state rep 1000 more illegal votes next election, what scenario was even possible? No answer. These people have no idea how anyone would pull that off.
It would have to be registered voters that were not voting somehow, or just bribing people to vote for her guy when they otherwise wouldn't. How would they know who to approach? Even with big chunks of money, you wouldn't get far before you were turned in.

(792 posts)The voter rolls and party affiliations are essentially public information, though you have to go through a few hoops ($$$) in some states to get it. Political parties buy this information and analyze it for demographic patterns to determine what kind of political bulk mailings to put you on. For instance, you wouldn't bother sending mail to someone who reliably voted in opposing party primaries, and you'd more aggressively court a new voter with no affiliation.
The conspiracy they're seeking to affirm here is people using mailboxes and empty buildings as their home address. Because that theory has been thoroughly debunked it stands to reason they're just wasting their time and $$$.
"The voters would be asked whether they voted, and if they voted in person or by mail. The plan says no voters will be asked who they voted for."

(19,193 posts)loves Trump, you know, like a wife, son, or daughter, would have a long talk with the Orange Dork and tell him he's lost touch with reality.
You would think someone would do that, but you'd be wrong. Trump even rules his family with fear, and they're all afraid they'll be cut out of his will if they tell him the truth. Imagine that, not loving your husband or father enough to get him psychiatric treatment. What a sad, sad family they are. I almost pity them. Almost.

(19,193 posts)that could make some headway into his......head. She's getting to the age where she's almost too old for him now, though. He really should forget his looney fantasies and enjoy life with the time he has remaining. As wealthy as he is, or isn't, I don't think he's ever really enjoyed life or his loved ones. I guess you actually have to love someone to get love in return, though, and Donnie doesn't love anyone but himself. He's a sad, sad man.

(101,306 posts)Most of their House reps voted to kick out Liz Cheney for stating the truth. Most Republican voters think the election was stolen from him. He has a support group of millions, with billions of dollars. Of course he's not backing down.

(9,971 posts)He is a self-centered SOB who cares for no one but himself. He only looks at Ivanka as a sex object, which should make any daughter more than uncomfortable. I think they all know that he is descending into dementia as his father did before him, and, like the vultures they are, the three oldest ones are just waiting to manipulate him and take over to ensure that they get the lions share of whatever is left. It seems to be a family trait to cheat siblings out of their inheritance.

Laws governing recall in Arizona are defined in Article 8 of the Arizona Constitution.
The authority to conduct a recall election in Arizona applies to "Every public officer in the state of Arizona, holding an elective office, either by election or appointment."[1]

(7,402 posts)Unhinged, unfounded accusations was the centerpiece of McCarthy's attacks on the Army. The very Army that 10 years earlier won WW II. That generation was called the greatest generation for a reason but that didn't stop Joseph McCarthy. It wasn't until someone pushed back and challenged McCarthy with the question "have you no shame?).
Because of the dynamics, this Republican pushing back saying the "statement is just plain wrong" will have no effect. Not when entertainment networks like Fox News is out there putting out the Trump misinformation. This is the poster boy for why deregulation is a guaranteed disaster. Bring back the fairness doctrine and truth in advertising. Shut down the misinformation. It is tearing the country apart in the exact manner predicted. Roll back Reaganism and its companion McCarthyism.
