Florida Governor's Office Says State Could Withhold Salaries of Officials Who Enact School Mask Mand

Source: CNN

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's office said Monday that the state board of education could move to withhold the salaries of superintendents and school board members who disregard the governor's executive order prohibiting mask mandates for school districts.

Last month DeSantis issued an executive order requiring the state's health and education departments to create rules preventing local school mask mandates. Several lawsuits have since been filed challenging the constitutionality of the executive order.

Some school districts are considering mask mandates and at least one has said masks will be required unless the parents opt out.

A statement from the governor's office on Monday says the state board of education "could move to withhold the salary of the district superintendent or school board members." The statement says one of DeSantis' priorities is to protect parents' rights...

Mon Aug 9, 2021, 11:15 PM
Aug 2021

"Depraved heart murder is the form of murder that establishes that the willful doing of a dangerous and reckless act with wanton indifference to the consequences and perils involved, is just as blameworthy, and just as worthy of punishment, when the harmful result ensues, as is the express intent to kill itself. This highly blameworthy state of mind is not one of mere negligence. It is not merely one even of gross criminal negligence. It involves rather the deliberate perpetration of a knowingly dangerous act with reckless and wanton unconcern and indifference as to whether anyone is harmed or not. The common law treats such a state of mind as just as blameworthy, just as anti-social and, therefore, just as truly murderous as the specific intents to kill and to harm."

They aren't just ignoring covid by failing to mandate or even recommend vaccinations and masks, which would be bad enough; they are going out of their way to prevent other entities within their states - cities, schools, private businesses - from doing those things. It's like they want to kill off their supporters. It's just performative loyalty signaling and it's killing people.

That's because that's what THEY would've done if roles were reversed then. But now it makes sense (to them) to NOT wear masks to make the Dem President "look bad." And DeSantis certainly can't run the risk of people not obeying his wish that they be, uh, "free," so he's restricting their freedom. You know how Republicans hate choice.

Only some of which might be the "REAL" reason........

10. Mask mandate would scare people and lower the economic activity in his state.
9. Killing off the weak will result in evolutionary "stronger" race of trumpist to take over the country.
8. A cruel act of Voter Suppression.
7. They're angling for the undertaker votes.
6. They're taking their marching orders from Puttie, destabilize the US.

4. Playing to that shrinking base, 'cause FREEDUM!! Might make them more apt to actually start some shit, cause you know, democratic pizza eating pedophiles did this to our country.
3. They're actually democrats in disguise, just like TFG, bent on ruining the republican party.
2. Aliens from another world?? Always a possibility!!

And finally, number 1: They're lizard people, bent on inhabiting the world after Covid kills a bunch of humans and climate change makes the planet more likeable to their species.

the authority to close private businesses and shut things down during the pandemic. If he doesn't have the authority to make people wear masks, close non-essential businesses or take other action because of the pandemic, then he doesn't have the authority to interfere with school administrators requiring students to wear masks.

Our kids graduated from Florida schools. It was bad back then, for different reasons. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The health of the kids was not on their radar at all. But at least that nonsense didn’t come from the governor. I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable sending them to school there now.

They view mask mandates and vaccine requirements as attacks on freedom, but in turn, they restrict the freedom of local school districts to impose their own mask mandates to protect students and teachers and that of private businesses to require masks and proof of vaccination to protect their employees and customers.

And let's not even get into how they want to limit women's freedom to choose what to do with our own bodies.

The freedom they speak of clearly does not extend to everyone.

I wonder what the scoring system is? Perhaps bonus points are awarded based on age: The deaths of children under 10 years old get a whopping five bonus points. Hospitalizations merit a paltry +2.

The GOP has decided the DeSantis dystopia is a winning electoral strategy, probably.
