Florida to Broward, Alachua school boards: reverse mask policy or lose pay
Source: Tampa Bay Times
Florida education commissioner Richard Corcoran said Friday he will withhold an amount equal to board members salaries each month.
TALLAHASSEE Broward County and Alachua County school board members who voted to impose a mask mandate could start losing their monthly pay as soon as next week unless they reverse their policy.
Florida education commissioner Richard Corcoran on Friday issued the warning, saying he would begin withholding an amount equal to their salaries each month until they comply with the states parental rights law and school mask order.
It is important to remember that this issue is about ensuring local school board members, elected politicians, follow the law, Corcoran said. These public officials have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Florida. We cannot have government officials pick and choose what laws they want to follow.
Corcoran said the penalties would be the initial consequences for their actions. The State Board of Education on Tuesday directed Corcoran to investigate the conduct of the districts school officials and floated the possibility of removing school officials from office or having their pay withheld as a consequence.

But only for the vacc'd.

Notice how they are wording it: saying he would begin withholding an amount equal to their salaries each month
There is no legal authority to withhold an employees salary. They know this. So they try the childish nonsense above. DeSantis already said the people would be "on the honor system" to not cash their paycheck(State DOE does not write paychecks to county school employees). So, then they will try a laughable attempt to "remove them from office" for taking their paycheck - which they legally have the right to do. No court is going to allow State DOE to remove and replace elected county officials over THIS.
Further, other school boards have already told them to pound sand since Tuesday so they are simply flailing in the wind at this point.

Justice Harlan stated the question before the Court: Is this statute . . . inconsistent with the liberty which the Constitution of the United States secures to every person against deprivation by the State?2(p25) Harlan confirmed that the Constitution protects individual liberty and that liberty is not an absolute right in each person to be, in all times and in all circumstances, wholly free from restraint:

(714 posts)Even if they read it, the vast majority of them aren't intelligent enough to figure out what it means. (Unfortunately, that is a flaw which all too often runs across both parties.)
People win political office for things which have nothing to do with basic intelligence or the amount of knowledge they have stored in their heads.
Then they're saddled with making decisions about things which they don't have the tools to begin to comprehend.

(714 posts)They threaten to cut funding equal to those people's salaries?
Time to give each one of them a substantial raise for the duration of the funding cut.
Biden has already promised the feds will fund whatever the idiot states cut.
And the school systems will win a lawsuit against the state since there's no state legal authority to make the funding cuts to match school board member pay.
So the school districts will eventually get the funding from the state plus damages as well.
